    LG U8360 on Three (info)

Just got my new contract with 3

Got the LG u8360 (this must be the first i have had so close to its release).
I previously had a Nokia 7600, and i am still getting used to the LG's normal keypad as apposed to the nokias weird one.

The screen is superb, it is relatively easy to get used to, and overall it feels nice, altho it is a shame more of it isnt metal, the majority is silver plastic.

It has an external 64/65k screen and an internal 232k screen. It has 1.3 megapixel camera etc, well basically it has more features than a phone needs.

It has so far absolutely superb, despite being slightly slower than my nokia scrolling etc, but after sending loads of texts, watching videos and listening to music it is still 3/4's battery full even tho it is on the 3g network.

Added bonus is that it has the ability to hold a transflash card for extra memory, of which should be coming soon. I am getting to like three alot more now, so lets see what happens.

The size of the phone is acceptable (i dont like tiny little phones, altho i do find that the keys have been squeezed to the bottom of the fone, and can seem a bit small for my fingers) it is sturdy and hopefully will last long so long as i look after it The weight is just under 130g, which means that it is no lightweight, but it is totally acceptable, but then i have never had light fones really, so for me it is the norm. I can't really seem to fault the fone, except for some things in the menu, if you search for a contact i.e. press to find people beginning with 's' it will only list those beginning with s, and wont let u scroll onto t etc. Seems a powerful fone with great battery life.

I am on the Video Talk and Text 700 (which gives me 400 minutes anytime to anyone, 250 sms text messages, 25 mms messages or video calls, and £5 of any downloads from three) so all in all a superb deal.

And for the price, the total will come to (around) £102 inc fone and the 12 months contract.

Why, well i get 9 months £2.99 line rental (normally £35) and the first 3 months are reduced to £17.50 by three themselves. So that brings the price down to around abouts £132, however as i was already on three, under my dads name, i said that he recommended me, which means e2save will send him another £30 cheque which he will pass onto me.

So all in all a superb deal. The last contract (Talk and Text 600 with the nokia 7600 was with 12months free line rental). So basically i havent done too badly.

Just thought i would let you know about the goings on.

Three have definately improved and this phone makes best use of it, top features at a great price IMHO the best fone for the Three network.

PS. After purchasing my fone (and having e2save/cpw) being in short supply of these fones the contract price has now gone up to £2.99 for 8 months, so i think i am really quite lucky!

Would be interested if you keep us posted on any software/hardware problems (the 8110 and 8120 were notoriously faulty) and on how the battery life pans out - especially if you make lots of calls.

i had some trouble making the battery life run out, as i wanted to empty the battery and recharge it again.

after watching about 2 hours of continuous movie clips, and streaming direct using threes 3g things, and an hour (at least of music) the battery still didnt go down, so after intense usage the battery life lasted 2 days (this was just this morning i was doing all this stuff), and i mean really intense. i left bt on to try and empty battery, connected to pc, swapped files - you kind of get the point

So yeah the battery lasts a long long time.

I have read that the alarm only goes off if the phone is left on, but really after 2 mins (once the fone is one and flipped shut)it kind of goes into a power saving 'standby' mode sort of thing.

Software so far has been good. I shall have to see if anything major comes out... and i will let you know. ALtho the flip doesn't seem 'that' secure, it is definately strong enough, dont get me wrong, it is just when flipped open there is a slight bit of give in it, tho nothing major.

EDIT: I have read this review and it seems that the phone is identical except for the seperate lenses. The one on the U8380 has the twisty turny round one in the hinge, which i think will probably get damaged quite easily.
