W800i - Synchronisation Advice
Hi all,
I've recently got myself a Sony Ericsson W800i, after leaving my old phone in a cab! doh! Anyhow, this new phone has a very cool sync feature where it'll download all my contacts and calender items from my Outlook 2003 to my phone. Fortunately for me, I keep a comprehensive list of my contacts on my Outlook. Unfortunately, it doesn't sync them over how I'd like. On my contacts I have peoples details filled in for example like so: Name: Joe Smith Bloggs File As: Joe Birthday: 07/07/1977 Address: Evergreen Terrace, Springfield, US The probem then is this. If I were to Sync Joe Bloggs to my phone, it would save it as a contact using the full name, rather than the 'file as' name. Firstly, is there anyway I can change that? I'd prefer it to file them all as the 'File As' names I have set in Outlook. Secondly, it doesn't copy the birthdays at all. The phone does have a field for Birthday, but they're all blank. Last but not least, the address is only copied over if it's in Outlook as a Business Address. Therefore the contacts with business addresses are fine, it will copy those over. But for contacts with only home addresses, it copies no address. I'm pretty new to the whole sync thing, it's very cool, but I'm not sure theres anyway to change or tweak the above stuff. Here's hopin'! Parm |

I don't know if this will help at all, but take a look at FMA (http://fma.sourceforge.net/index2.htm). If it doesn't do what you want at least there is a chance it will in the future, it is OpenSource after all...

Thanks for the suggestion Funkstar, I've downloaded FMA but it doesn't seem to pick up the W800i at all. It miht not support this phone as of yet.
The FMA forums seem to be down too so I can't enquire as such. Thanks for the suggestion nonetheless, I'll keep an eye on FMA's progress. |
