    Recommend me a phone

    Hi,

My contract is due soon and it's time to start thinking about a new phone.

Here what i use it for.

Appointments - so it needs a good calander
Email would be nice to have
    Obviously phone calls
A few snaps. Would like a 1.3mp camera min preferable 2.0mp

I would also like a phone with flash memory.

At the moment the SOny K750i looks like a good bet. Not sure though if it's the rifht phone for me.......?

    What are your thoughts?

    Thanks all!!

    Darren

K750, W800 or maybe the N90 (bearing in mind the N90 is a LARGE phone and the camara is not really that much better than the Sony - but definatly worth a look).

If you would like MP3 playback as well, the W800i is the way to go.

    I'd say it's between the K750i (/W800i) and Nokia N70.

Both have 2MP cameras, decent screens, hot-swapable memory, etc. The K750i takes Memory Stick Duo Pro and the N70 takes RS DV-MMC memory cards. If you go for the W800i, which is basically a walkman-branded version of the K750i, then you get a 512MB card bundled with the phone.

The K750i has a slightly better camera but the N70 is a smartphone, so it provides a much nicer calender/e-mail solution (syncing with either Microsoft Outlook, Windows Address book, Lotus Notes or Apple iSync). As a smartphone, the N70 is also capable of running plenty of third party apps, so if you don't like the built-in calender/e-mail client then you can always download something different (Profimail is superb!).

The downside to the N70? It's not available yet. Vodafone reckon they'll have it within 1-2 weeks, with other operators to follow.

I heard that N series phones dont even vibrate.....??
    The N90 doesn't, the N70 does. The N70 is basically a 6680 with more RAM, a 2MP camera and a radio.

Thanks for the quick reply chaps.......So it's between the K750i and the N70.

I've just seen reviews on the n70 and it looks nice!

Another other info guys would be great. Do you think the Nokia will be on Orange?

The ony difference between the K750i and the W800i is the case and slightly modified firmware. But the W800i comes with far better headphones (worth £25 minimum to buy separate) and a 512Mb card (worth £35 minimum) unlike the K750i which only comes with a 64Mb one. You could then buy the K750i housing and flash the K750i firmware to it. Then you have a proper K750i, but with £60+ of free accessories to sell or use. Both handsets can be had for free now on almost all tarrifs/networks.

On ebay and other places there are complete kits to do this (with original OEM Sony housing, tools, software and the intructions) for about £10. Thats what i would do if i did not already have a K750i.

Sorry, just another option to confuse you with!

No, but you can pick one up a compatible Bluetooth GPS receiver on eBay for about £40-50.

Do you think the Nokia will be on Orange?
I can't imagine it not being released on Orange. Orange are pushing their 3G service pretty hard at the moment and Nokia's 3G smartphones tend to sell very well.

Another vote for the N70. Nokia phones are robust and always work well. Plus if you've used one you can use the rest easily.

So is the N70 out yet? If it is not then how can so many people be recomending a phone that is unavailable?

    Fairy-nuff then

I've not been keeping up with anything other than SE for the past while (i just have a thing for their phones atm). I was under the impression that the N series was going to be a complete departure from previous models to try and bring nokia back up to speed with the likes of SE and Samsung. But then that was probably just me getting the wrong end of the stick...again
