Hopefully the camera will be as good as on the K750i/W800i. That would make it my perfect phone.

I can't find any comparisons with the current Pxxx series of phones. What bothers me is that the screen looks smaller in the images, yet everywhere I go says the screen is actually only 1mm smaller than the current Pxxx series. So either someone has their dimensions wrong or the P990 is absolutely massive.

Heh you mean use a PAYG sim in it ?

Yeap - I use mine mainly for the Free SMS and Free WAP access so I can mail and text on the move. If anybody wants me they always ring me anyway so I might as well save some cash each month for other luxuries. Also, my calls that I make tend to be "pub 8 - catch you later" none of this woman calling malarkey talking about weather, shopping and whatnot... I save all that for the pub

I've had my p800 since it came out - been a cracking phone but starting to get a little funny now with the battery starting to discharge very quick indeed.

Looks nice and everything, but not trying to be negative either.. but when I buy a phone I want a phone.. not a PDA or something like that, games, and other things like that are ok, but sometimes it's taken too far .

If I was planning on buying a PDA then it seems pretty cool.

looks liek you can take the keypad off, interesting.

pretty sure it's going to have same camera module/software as the K750/W800 if not more finely tuned

Last month I put £15 on my O2 PAYG sim, I had to top up yesterday and I still had over £3 left. 300 free texts and 150 free off peak / weekend minutes, I'm finding it hard to actually use up my credit and will more than likely start to accumulate more with each top up. Can't really complain though, still far cheaper than a contract.

It's massive. I don't know how they class these as phones, it should be a PDA with call functionality. But then look at the sizes phones used to be a few years ago i guess.

I have a P900 and it's 'massive' compared to newer phones, however it's not really huge compared to phones a few years ago. It's about an inch or so longer than a business card and about the same width, the thickness however makes it feel more chunkier.

Now the dimensions on the SE site between the P910 and P990 are 1mm in difference, yet places such as Esato say the screen is still the same size as previous Pxxx phones, I don't see how this can be.

    Looks huge there

Even compared to the early 3G phones it looks like a brick... and that's saying something.

Seriously, though. If you're happy with a device this size then surely it makes most sense to get a Palm Treo or a Windows Mobile-based system that gives you well-supported PDA functionality with your phone capabilities.

I've got a Symbian phone (a Motorola A925). The real problem with it is limited support compared to Palm and PocketPC, so while it can perform various organiser functions, I'd prefer to have something like the MDA compact for better software support. And if you're a developer, then being able to use .NET to write your own applications is a lot quicker and easier than learning the Symbian way of doing things (believe me, I've got a Symbian UIQ book on the desk and it's full of quirky ways to do things). If you want 3G and PDA functions, then I'd be more tempted by the new Windows Mobile device from HTC (which is a brick, even my colleague who has one admits that, but it's also survived a substantial drop with barely a scratch on the case, which counts for something).

We have a P910 at work and although with the Flip the phone isn't that pocketable, without the flip (i.e only using the touch screen, I actually think the phone fits into the pocket pretty well.

If the new P990i is anywhere near the size of the P910 it will be some acheivement in my eyes as it will come with querty keybaord, 2mp camera, 3G compatibility, Wi-Fi etc etc.

This will almost definately be my next phone I think, especially if the camera is as good as my w800i, plus browsing the net at home in my garden on my phone really appeals lol

Nokia have just announced a new series for business phones too.

Quad-band GSM, EDGE, UMTS, WiFi and Bluetooth 2.0 all in one device!
