    O2 Upgrade advice

    Hi all,

This is in a similar vain to the previous O2 upgrade post. I'm just looking for a bit of advice on how to handle this.

I've come to the end of my 12 months contract (£19/mo but my average bill is about £45/mo so I should probably change contract at the same time).

I rang the upgrade line and was quoted £79.99 for a Nokia N70. I asked if changing my contract to a higher one (e.g. the O2 200 one at £30/mo) would make any difference to the price of the phone as was told it would not.

Is this the best I'll get on the upgrade? Would I be better just cancelling the contract and going to mobileshop or the many others?

    I'd appreciate any advice!

    Thanks,
    Russ

    Hi,

Yeah, I'd like the N70 I think and I guess I would like to stay with O2. I'm just wondering if it's worth any haggling or if there's anything I can do to improve their offer.

like you said the mobileshop seem to offer some good deals on O2 - get the phone for free to on some of the tariffs.

    Don't ask don't get.

Find your best offer from anyone else, then ring the and tell them you'll leave unless they can make you a 'Godfather offer'.

Remember if you want to stay with O2, you say you'll leave - then tell them you want to say if they call your bluff.

Sadly, the £79.99 is a fixed price that we must recover and so no matter what deal you see it will have to be paid for.

Ring them to cancel the contract. Let them do the talking and if they don't say the right words you simply cancel.

Lots of decent deals elsewhere. Voda & Orange got decent minutes for around £30 and free n70.

Apex - Do you guys at 02 have any idea about the pricing of the p990? I currently pay £30 a month, i think i am on 02 200, what would the price be for the handset on that tariff?

No pricing as such at the current time, but if past costings are anything to go by your looking at £109.99 to £149.99 but don't hold me to that has we not got this on the price matrix yet.
