Orange to start charging for SMS delivery reports!

It makes money for them and some people may not even know they have them, ok, so its only 1p a delivery report, but some people send up to 500+ texts a month.

Personally I think its a VERY bad move.

That is a complete joke, they just annoy me cos my phone gets them as a seperate incoming message, but on those phones where its turned on by default, and not obvious when you recieve them, theyll be a lot of unhappy customers i reckon

    O2 don't do them

I use them all the time as alot of the people I text are in meetings etc etc and by having reports I know when they have their phone on and are available.

Personally I think this will not last. Its a seriously bad move to alienate the key SMS market.....

I used to use them on a previous phone, but since getting my 6230 a while back I've not.

I don't really miss them though to be honest. It's rare that a message doesn't reach it's recipiant.

Yet another way to fleece the consumer out of more cash

I think the phone companies are a bit skint after the silly pricing wars for the 3G licenses.

In honesty - I hardly ever use my mobile now so its on PAYG and uses less than 10 pounds every 3 months, if I need to make a call to a friend I'll use my VoIP provider as they are cheaper than my mobile and not affected by signal

Have you seen the other things reported. Less minutes, more charges - It seems the agressive pricing through the 90's has made these companies offer great deals which are now just a distant memory ( Everyday 50 on Orange anyone? )

On the Orange website you can print your itemised bill. You just need to register online.

They have really been getting on my nerves over the past few months. Refused to give me an upgrade to the Nokia N70 for free, then a week later doing it for free!! But it was too late for me as went for a different phone.

1p for delivery reports is insane, they really are money grabbers. I'm leaving at the end of this contract, i've had enough!

you could have returned the phone they sold you within 14 days no questions asked.

Orange need to make sure they know what they are doing here, its very dangerous ground for consumer satisfaction.

I work in a telesales office, and we were (Up until this week) about 99% Orange based. Even the office phone system ran through Orange.

Not anymore. T-Mobile are going to get MASSIVE with their new tariffs. I suggest you read up. Flext.

Basically... £35 a month will get you either 900 minutes, or 1800 texts, or whatever you use in between (Just a 1:2 ratio for minute:text)... so you could use 600 minutes and 600 texts, or 450 minutes and 900 texts, whichever... There's also £20 a month plans, £25, £30, £50 and £75....

Seriously.. T-Mobile is where it's at. Their new tariffs are the business.

Something witty and fun that amuses you.

Thats because O2 is a rubbish network for the most part (aside from some excellent price plans)...

So is it just Voda and t-mobile left that do them? I agree with the majority here that its a seriously bad move, I use them all the time and it is switched on my phoneby default..

Does anyone know if this is just orange UK that is doing this? My UK network is vodafone so that's ok (for now) but I use orange when I am in switzerland..

Signal is great here and everyone i phone is on them so all my calls are free. Im not loyal though and will hop about networks if another one can match my contract.
