Question Standalone GPS or PDA + GPS?

Not sure what to do. I really need GPS for my new job and a PDA would be very useful, although i could live without one. What are my best options then? I hear many people say that Tom Tom stuff is by far the best too, so should i get a Tom Tom one (for about £250) or a PDA with a GPS adaptor and the maybe the Tom Tom software? Could i get a PDA+GPS for near the same price, without having crappy GPS?

    So confused!

    Cheers

    pp05's system
Standalone have nice screens and easy input.

PDA/Smartphone with tomtom work ok too.. and can give you extra functionality as well.

I recommend the BT 77 gps receiver if you go the PDA + gps route. I have one and performance is excellent and no problems using with Tomtom.

Rough calculation: Bluetooth equipped PDA for about 120 + 45 (Gps receiver) add another 15 for PDA car kit = 180. Now all you need is Tomtom on a memory card and you have sat nav. Total price will be nearly the same as Tomtom one but you can do so much more with a PDA.

Or if you have a compatible phone, just get a bluetooth GPS reciever. this means less / smaller gadgets to carry around.

    Woohoo now Assistant Manager!
