    Is there any software which I can use to flash the firmware of w800i?

    I assume you're going to be flashing unofficial firmware right? Otherwise you can flash your phone directly from the Sony Ericsson website.

    good idea to run the sony update, just to make sure everything is at the latest version. Chances are they will be, the phones don't sit instorage or on a shelf for very long.

    The unofficial firmwares offer you some cool features, such as storing SMS and contacts on your memory card. I think it allows you 10,000 texts or something.

    SonyUpdate will fix bugs with the phone, occasionally add a new feature or two. There's not much risk of you damaging the phone...if it does all go wrong, then Sony Service Centres will flash the firmware for you FOC.
