Apparently Mobile Repair World in Nottingham can do these now. So there may be a solution out and about soon-ish, not sure.

Just had a call from three who have said that they are refusing to unlock the handset, despite charging me £15.00.

    Oh joy.

are they allowed to refuse to unlock the handset? assuming the contract is up or the phone was bought on payg outright?

In the circumstances I presume so, Its a contract handset, in which im trying to use a PAYG to blag an unlock code

I rang Phone Repair World for a quote too.

£50 if the phone is on Orange or Vodafone
£70 if the phone is on Three

I'll just wait till its 'readily' available.

    Talking unlocking k800i

Hello I have a k800i on orange and I want to use it with an o2 sim. You need get an orange sim card (free from orange) put £20 credit on it and call them on 450 (free Call) and request an unlock code. They email you back in 7-10 days with the unlock code.

it'd be the IMEI they need, and if you called orange they'd see its not one of theirs, thought about that myself

    Give it time.

Do you HAVE TO top up a PAYG orange sim in order to request an unlock code or can you just call Orange and request it? Can you request it while you are still on contract (with Orange) or you have to wait until the contract finished?

    cheers
