Thanks. But I'm in Canada (I bought the phone via ebay UK) and I cannot get Orange to send a sim to me! Any other ideas? I emailed Orange and they told me that they can only unlock the phone after I've been with Orange PAYG for 3 mths.. that means that I have no hope of unlocking with them until 2008??

Umm, k800's can now be done by IMEI/Remote procedure. However I'm not sure if it's all of them (non-CID52), or network specific ones that can be done via code...

If vodafone, or three it can be done cheaply via remote unlocking.

If not it can be done via cable. This will include getting rid of all the orange branding as well.

There is no real way to check CID unless you have some equipment etc.

Sometimes on vodafone, code is not in the database and therefore needs to be physically done

The codes must be available in the database to get the unlock code , if not you will have to wait for it to be given out by sony ericsson to the provider and thats 6 months from contract date.
Otherwise remote unlocking with USB cable is only option.

    Hi,

To get your unlock code you will need an active Vodafone Sim card, if you don’t have one you could purchase a Pay As You Talk (PAYT) Sim from the Vodafone website, from the home page select the online shop, there is then the option for Sim only if you click here you will then be able to purchase a Sim.

You will need to make contact with us to request the unlock code you can either contact Customer services on 08700 700 191 (national rate), 191 free of charge from your Vodafone handset or via email from the Vodafone website; from the home page you will see a contact us option in the top right corner, click here and select the by email option.

Have the make and model of the handset and the IMEI number available. (To get the IMEI you can in put the code *#06# into the handset and the IMEI will be displayed on the screen.)

For all handsets over 12 months old the unlock code will be provided free of charge, if the handset is under 12 months old there will be a one off charge of £20 (inc VAT.) If you have a PAYT account you will need to have the £20 available in calling credit.

We hold some unlock codes on our system and if this is the case we can provide it within minutes. If it’s not held in our database then we will need to request the code from the manufacturer this takes up to 72 hours, (Samsung can take longer.)

    Thanks

    Gembo
    Vodafone UK
