Fring is actually a stand-alone application that works on a wide range of handsets. whilst Truphone intergrates with the OS on the newer models that have sip support built in (im one of those lucky enough to not have a crippled phone with sip disabled) It also allows me free roaming access to "the cloud" network, and free calls to landlines till the end of june, and free calls to other sip networks

well what do you expect? cnet tend to foget that the phone has a vast amount of features that will drain the battary. untill they can invent some sort of battery that can power a gps, 5 mega cam, video cam, gprs, 3g and wifi and make it last for a week than this is what you will expect. on a lighter note, my phone can do 2 days without a charge

| Sounds like just about every phone that's on the market now. Either they are feature laden Symbian or WM5/6, or super slim and have a small battery. Roll on fuel cells. I have a Nokia 1100 that i mostly use as a spare and for music festivals. Old school LCD screen and no camera or anything, it literally only makes calls/texts. Lasts about a week of heavy use! | it shouldnt have to get to a point where you have your good phone and your bad though.. its not like having your weekend car and your daily driver lol, i think they should have put some thought into that issue before hand, as on the n73 the battery is fine for a few days.. and the two phones probably have a very simalar if not the same battery.. |

it defeats the object of having a phone that does all these things if you can only use it for a day at a time, due to the battery. Obviously you going to be biased, but at the end of the day i have heard nothing but complaints about this that and the other ..

Just a quick bump to say there is a Firmware update available for the N95 now.. V11.0.026 with a date of 17/4 Its not showing on the nokia site yet as its not fully released (ie networks havent released their customised versions) if you have a unbranded handset, you may be able to install it using the nokia software update util.. I have a o2 branded handset, but i used a different util to hack the product code to make it unbranded.. the new firmware is MUCH faster than the original.. button response is now instant.. battery life seems a bit better but its too early to tell

Who knows, but you could always update to the generic version, which is what the reports of improvements are coming from. Get rid of the silly T-Mobile branding too in the process.
