Always call your network if you are thinking of switching

Decided last Friday that i wanted a P990i after seeing the one they had in stock in CarPhoneWarehouse. Called O2 to get my PAC code as CPW wanted to transfer my billing to them even if i stayed on O2 (which was their best deal). The woman in the disconnection department was really helpful and offered me a great deal. £200 for the phone and £15/month for 12 months on O2 30. This works out at £470 over 18 months compared to £640 with CPW (£100 for the phone and £30 a month for 18 months). and it's only a 12 month contract too.

Got a text today telling me the P990 won't be available until 23rd. So i phoned up to get my PAC code again just in case CPW could match O2. The lady this time came straight back and offered me a months free line rental for the inconvenience of the phone not being available!

I'm really surprised, my bill isn't huge. Unless i go oversees with work, i never use more than my free texts or minutes. But then i have had almost 6 months without an upgrade i was eligible for, that might make a difference.

So I'm quite happy to wait a couple of weeks if it means i save another £30

Might also mean SE will have another firmware version out clearing up any new release issues by the time i actually get it.

Likewise, just renewed with Vodafone, £15 a month for 12 months, £30 a month for the next 4 (can push for an upgrade from month 16), 500 txts and 200 x net and a free Samsung E900.

Was much cheaper than I could get cashback etc as the half price line rental is instant, no rebate required.

    Matt.

They only tend to throw one good offer at you, next year you might not be as wanted as you think, as I've just found with O2.

O2 Last year, halfed my online 200 (£30ppm tarrif) to £15.00 a month with a free handset, they said this year the best they could do would be £25 and free handset.

When probed, they wouldnt offer anything near as good as the Three £15.00 p/m for 18months offer on their refurbed 6280.

I've threatened to cancel my contract at upgrade time every time for the last 6 or 7 years. You can always get a good deal that way. Last time I did it with O2 they offered me £5 off a month from my rental (which was already as cheap or cheaper than I could get it elsewhere) but they screwed it up. In the end they just credited by bill with £65 instead. The extra £5 was their way of apologising, they seem to be pretty good like that.

Matt, have you used the E900? I have one and I absolutely hate it! It looks really nice, but it's very slow and the touch sensitive buttons are extremely frustrating.

I do love it, but a little less after the 4 days old handset flew across the car park :'(

    Don't tempt me.

Althought I hate using the E900, it does look extremely nice, so I'll keep it. I just a sucker for shiny things.
