    W800i, joystick failing

    Hmm, very annoyed!

My W800i joystick is failing and in many directions. This is making it so hard to use and I am not sure that this will be covered by warrenty as its only 10 months old. Other issue is that it was a gift from a relative so how can I get it serviced under warrenty?

    Cheers!

if it's a contract phone you should just be able to ring up your service provider and get it sorted under warranty? Otherwise try the manufacturer, they might request a receipt in which case you'd need to ask the aforementioned relative for it, but with a bit of luck you won't need the receipt. ring up your service provider or the place the phone was purchased from if it was bought outright, and explain the joystick not working problem, then ask if you can get it replaced/fixed under warranty...asking can't hurt!

If it has began failing with no user intervention.. such as liquid damage/being dropped/sat on etc..etc.. Then yes it will be covered under warranty.

You could see whether your relative can remember where they bought the phone, or if not maybe ask a phone shop (or find out yourself) a direct number for Sony warranties/repairs.

As I'm fairly sure if the fault is as you described and has not been caused by user damage, then you can get it sorted, as long as the 1 year warranty has not been invalidated in any way.

It's a major design fault with the K800/K750i, virtually all will fail at some point. I hoped they would have sorted for later models, but even my girlfriends K800i is playing up now.

It does not matter if its PAYG or Contract, it will have a 12 month warranty to cover it. All of my friends got theirs replaced, some more than once.

My K700i has started doing it now, I'd love another SE but the joysticks are putting me right off.

my k750's doing it too. seems to get better then worse again. i find that running the corner of a piece of paper around inside cleans it out nicely and it works again
