    Best Mobile Phone

    Hi All,

My contract is up with 3 and so I am looking at the best phone available at the moment both on features and size.

Any opinions and suggestion would be appreciated.

    Kind Regards,

    Define best?

I am a total Windows Mobile convert now, could not live without it. But most people will hate it, and with good reason in most cases. Not to mention how bulky they are. You really need to be a bit of a masochistic geek to enjoy it.

It all depends on what you want from a phone. Tell us what features you want - Music? Camera? Ultra compact? Looks? Games? Internet/Email? The abilities to run lots of excellent feature rich third party applications, such as Sat Nav, etc? You will almost certainly have to trade off a few of those features for others, there is no perfect phone. It's always a trade off, even when money is no object.

I always recommend people pop over to Mobile Review. It's the best mobile review site on the net if you ask me.

Very open ended question to answer. I’m in the same boat trying to choose the “best” phone for me.

Standard phones (3MP camera): Sony Ericsson K800i or Samsung D900
Smart phone (3MP camera): Nokia N73
MP3 phone (2MP camera): Sony Ericsson W850i (not sure how this compares to the W810i?)
Smart phone, touch screen (no camera): Sony Ericsson W950i (?)

Nokia’s line-up currently seems weak. I’d quite happily buy my current 6230i with an upgraded screen and 3MP camera.

http://www.mobile-phones-uk.org.uk/index.htm is quite informative. I’d welcome some other comprehensive mobile phone review websites.

I'd say that purely as an MP3 phone, the W810 has a slight edge over the W850, purely down to pricing. However, the W850 does have a better Walkman app than the W810.

N73 with Oggplay does make a darned fine music player, and as you can stick a 4gig MiniSD in there, it arguably makes a better music phone than the N90 (and has a better camera, battery life)

I agree. The w810i is one of the best. Good camera, good pricing and the w850i is more expensively purely because it is a slider phone and it is new.

My w850 has a speaker of sorts. it sounds like a tiny little speaker. A good quality tiny little speaker but a tiny little speaker nevertheless

    Total and utter tosh.

The E1/E398 had excellent battery life, extremely good sound quality (through headphones - it beat my W550 easily, especially on bass response), excellent speakers (don't think anything currently on the market beats it on that).

Sure, its camera wasn't amazing, and the 100 track limit was stupid (Apples fault though), and people knock the Moto menus, but its definitely a good phone, and the last few were going for a stupidly low price.

Your quite right, that's exactly what it was. Might have had decent sound quality for a phone, but it was rubbish.

Well I love my K800i, and you can easily use it as an MP3 player if you put in an extra card. Great pictures too, and a nice internet UI which is easy to use. Also holds 1000 texts

Agreed, it's an awesome phone. The camera is incredible and it makes a decent mp3 player as well.

Nokia N95. Looks very, very hot and it's thinner than the N80.
