K750i and Music Hi bit of a daft one this but I cant fix it myself, my neighbour has the K750i and wants to put music on it but he can only fit around 5 songs on that have been ripped at cd quality (192kb). HE asked someone in the orange shop and they said that he had to store the songs on the memory card NOt the phone memory but he cant figure out how to do this. In Windows with the phone connected it shows up as a removable drive with a couple of folders in, if he copies the file and pastes it in the removable drive. It doesent seem to put it on the phone, is there anyway of putting files on the memory card so that he can fit more songs on??? If we go throught the Sony Ericksson file manager and say the put the file in sounds it seems to work but he cant fit many songs on. Any ideas how to put the as many mp3s as possible on the memory stick? thanks Permanently confused

The K750i comes with a 64MB card, so you should be able to get almost a full album on that at 192Kbit (depending on the length of the album of course). The removable drive in windows is the memory card, the Sony Ericsson File Manager is the phone memory. I'm guessing there is other stuff on the memory stick taking up some of the space. I'd highly recomend getting another larger memory card. The W800i comes with a 512MB card as standard. I have a 2GB card in my K750i now (i also re-flashed the phone with the W800 software to get a far better music player).

you need to put it in the correct folder I think - perhaps that's the problem? There should be a specific mp3 folder on the card. Alternatively perhaps you could try using the Disk2Phone app that SE provide? Check where it puts the files and copy the rest there next time.

but puting the files in the wrong folder will not limit the amount of data you can store on the card. It's not doing anything special, you can pop it out and use it in a redular card reader. I can't remember if the K750i uses the MP3 folder, i seem to think i used to put them in "MSSEMC\Media Files\audio", but everything is now in the MP3 folder with the W800 software.

This is slightly off the topic but is there any reason why he uses 192kb/s? If he's just using the phone as a handy mp3 he should re-encode them to 92kb/s or even maybe 64kb/s if he's not an audiophile. That way you fit a lot more on and it's pretty hard to hear the difference, especially with the earphones that come with that phone.

When you have the phone connected to a PC, it makes the card unavailable to the phone. To see the files you have copied across you need to unplug the phone again. The music player on the phone should see the files in MSSEMC\Media Files\audio just fine. Unless they have changed the behaviour in newer software versions, try the MP3 folder as well.
