| Tom Tom upgrade process. Hi I've recently updated my IPAQ HX4700 to Windows Mobile 5 from Windows CE. With this I've decided to update my tom tom version 3 software to version 5 or maybe even 6. I've been on the tom tom site, and I must say what an unusable pile of junk it is. My questions are 1.) do tom tom do "update" packages so that I don't have to buy a full retail version of the newer tom tom versions and can update from 3 to X 2.) whats the latest version I should be looking at on my HX4700 with WM5 - I think its tom tom 5 but there are no minimum requirements details for Tom Tom 6 so I can't be sure. 3.) whats peoples opinion of tom tom 5 and 6 - if possible in reference over tom tom 3 ( I know its old now) thanks for your intput It is Inevitable..... | 1. Yes, but generally you can upgrade only to the next version from your own and only for a finite period of time (which you will be outside I'm guessing being on 3 and 6 being the current release). Talk to tomtom to find out. 2. TomTom 6 3. 5 and 6 are better just for the more updated maps but offer lots of new features too. I started on tomtom3. Te audire non possum. | Tomtom are rubbish at telling you which devices work etc.. The Qtek S100 is just a rebranded HTC magician btw (otherwise know as imate jam etc). Basically if the OS is supported, then the device is usually fine too. Te audire non possum. | v5 is definitely, definitely an improvement over v3. v5 has full postcode searches, which for me made it worth the upgrade on its own. It also allows you to rotate the screen by 90 degrees so you can have it in 'landscape' mode as well, which I actually prefer. V5 also has the M6 Toll road on it as well (and other map updates as well of course). V3 doesn't. I remember v3 getting *very* confused about that ![]() So, are there any people on here that have upgraded from v5 to v6? If so, are there any major improvements other than updated maps? I had a look at the tomtom site and didn't see anything that particularly drove me to wanting it. Just remembered, I did actually get the v5 'upgrade' package because I'd bought and registered v3, but I'm guessing that was a time limited offer if they're not offering it now.
