Question generic phone management software to copy contacts onto pc then to another handset.

as the name states.basically i have a samsung e720 and its being wierd about the pims software its natively used with (doesnt export contacts etc very well so no use really) so what i want is a piece of software i can get all my contacts off the phone and sim and then export them and then import them on my new nokia n73.
    so what do you suggest?
    cheers
EDIT: just tried mob time... i've been able to export my e720 numbers but i cant use the n73 as its not supported:S gonna see if nokias software will import my shiz
done it via nokia software and importing a file from the e720 a business card file to outlook express and then syncronising the nokia with outlook.
    well happy now.took seconds
    cheers anyway.

If you have MS Office (any version), then Nokia PC suite will sync your contacts and appointments between Outlook and any Nokia phone.

Perhaps there is an equivalent Samsung application to get the data off the phone.

There is unlikey to be a generic application available as modern phones keep the data in their memory instead of the SIM card, and all phone companies have different operating systems. (most of which are closed).

But then you will loose all your extended contact information if you use the SIM cad to transfer them.

Just tried it on my P990. It creates a seperate SIM entry for each number in a contact, all with the same name and misses out the email address and all other information. It also chops the name down to 14 characters.

You could, but you will loose any additonal information you have with each contact such as postal or email addresses. It will also get complicated if you have more than one phone number against the same contact. (Landline & moble for example).

    yes, most of them.

I organse my contacts in Outlook will all the relevant information an then sync it with my phone. At first i did it because i could not because i needed to, but then there is the odd time you are out and about somewhere and you need someones address or date of birth. really handy.

In the office, syncing appointments is really handy as well. If you are at lunch, your phone will bleep and remind you of a meeting, instead of you not finding you till you get back to your desk when you are allready 10 minutes late.

If all those meetings where set up via outlook in the first place, the whole thing becomes painless
