PDA GPS - Educate Me.
Im in the market for a GPS reciever for the car to go with my new TyTN.
Ill be using TomTom on WM5m so whatever i get needs to be compatible (is there anything that isnt?) Im open to suggestions as far as the reciever goes. I know wired is a bit cheaper, but ill more or less definately be hardwiring the reciever in to the car (suggestions for locations welcome) So ti could be easier from a wiring (and keeping it out of sight) point of view to go for bluetooth. I gather Sirfstar 3 is the best chipset, but i assume theyre all ok? (are there any to seriously avoid) As an aside, does anyone know anywhere doing, decent quality powered cradles for less than about 50 quid (checked ebay already). Cheers.

I bought the GlobalSat BT359W a few months ago, and it's worked an absolute treat. Works fine on my Vario II with TomTom 6.
I've used a couple of GPS systems now, but for me, SirfStar III still seems to be the most successful on locking on, and then maintaining an accurate signal. I'd also be interested in where PDA cradles for the TyTns can be sourced, as this is the one thing I'm missing now

You can't use a CF card with that HTC, you need a bluetooth one. I recommend getting a Holux Bluetooth one. Very highly regarded and uses the Sirf Star III chipset (when TomTom themselves use in there devices). I have tried a few and the Holux have been the best.

yeah ive been looking at one of the holux GPSlim devices, as they seem to be the ones of choice when it comes to hardwiring them in.
@fatal what do you use to hold it now? i currently have one of those generic expanding ones, but its pushing 3 years old and ideally id like one with a charger built in.

Tytn only has a microsd slot, you could use one in a wizard/magician thouugh.
