    Recommendations?

    Hey Guys,
I'm currently using an aging phone with a very basic colour screen and not much else. That said, it did what I needed (made calls) until recently, when the battery started cutting out on me.

I'm now in the market for a new phone. I'm not particulary interested in music playback or any gimmicks like that, though I do quite like the idea of having a camera in the phone. Ideally, I'm looking for one that has that and can be bought Pay-As-You-Go for an affordable price. Also, I've always used Nokia, and I suppose another one with the same interface I'm used to would be good, though not compulsory.

And if I'm going to be really pedantic, I quite like the look of those mobiles which flip open.

Any advice/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Warren.

k750, never given me trouble and a decent camera, can be gotten for about £100 now. only problem is that its not flip and thats what you'd prefer. i really like it though

edit: my mum has a new nokia slidy one, with an OK camera...not sure what model or of the price. i think she paid £120 for it, also i dont know what you'd call affordable, as ive always spent around £150 on phones.

I've posted this before, and will again probably:

Can I just ask - how much were you looking at spending on the phone? and how much do you spend on topups each month?

    Take the following two examples:

    Person 1 - doesn't want/need/like the latest greatest phones, tops up £5 every 2 months to keep his phone alive. Total Cost/year £60(phone) £30 (TopUps) = £90

    Person 2 - likes the latest greatest, tops up £15/month. Total Cost/year £120-180 (phone) £180 (TopUps) £300-360

If you're person 1 then PAYG is perfect, if you are person 2, then PAYG is a false economy - and you would be better off with a Contract, as you would get the phone for free. As follows:

    £20-25/month & No charge for a k800i, Total Cost/year £240-300.

    Just food for thought

    Dave

Thanks for the replies guys. I'm not really much of a spender as far as my mobile goes; I tend to use it sporadically at best.

I'd say around £80 to £100 is the price region I'm looking at.

but you wanted a nokia, right?

You had the correct opinion there..stick with what you know. Your already used to the simple, easy to use (probably series40) interface so why confuse yourself with the shoddy Sony Ericsson interface?

No but seriously there are much better phones out there, and if your talking £80-£100 to spend on the phone, then the Nokia 6233 is seriously worth looking at. Standard nokia 'candy bar' design, series40 interface (so just what your used to but with more features plus a very nice colour screen).

I would have a play with both in the mobile phone shop, and see which you like best...but I would go nokia everytime

    Mac Pro, 2x Quad core 2.8ghz Xeon, 512mb 8800GT, 4gb DDR2 FB-Dimm
Macbook, 1.8ghz Core Duo, 2GB Ram, Superdrive
    iPhone 2G 2.0.1

Thanks for the suggestion Spud1; I'll have a look at both of those when I go into town.

I'm really not to knowledgable about this subject, so the more recommendations the better.

Mate with the k750 have had problems with the little joystick thing dying after about 6months, replaced on warranty but irritating for them, but other than that they seem good phones although nothing will ever beat my 5110.

Yes it will - my 5130 (IF I was to dig it out of the cupboard, blow off the dust and find a suitable sim card, that is )
