    Cheapest HTC TyTN Smartphone?

    Hi folks

Been looking into replacing my brick phone for some time now. After much research I think I'm going to opt for the HTC TyTN smartphone as I want an all in one device that'll also allow me to retrieve my email on the road and the reviews I read are great. Found it at a decent price here:

    HTC TyTN

Any feedback would be much appreciated.

Are you ruling out getting it on contract? If not, the same device is basically the MDA Vario II from T-Mobile, and for a lot less up front than that. OK, you're committing to a contract, but you'd have to get your voice and data services from someone anyway.

my vario2 on flext 25 is costing me 27.50 a month including unlimited data. 80 quid up front for the phone.

Pretty certain you wont find cheaper after you factor in 3g data costs.

Yes - it's called Web'n'Walk. You add it to your contract; there's three levels. Basic is £7.50pm on top of your voice/SMS allowance. That gives you a "Fair Use" limit of 1GB per month for web and email access. Plus, which is £12.50 gives you 3GB, plus IM, streaming media, downloads and the right to use your phone as a 3G modem with a laptop/PC, and Max, which is £22.50pm gives you 10GB, plus you're allowed to use do the same as Plus as well as use VoIP apps (like Skype).

Thanks for the feedback. I already have an existing contract with Orange though so I wouldnt want to start a new one and have to pay two monthly fees. I think I'll probably buy it from Think4 today as I spent all weekend looking but can't see it any cheaper (apart from eBay and I won't buy from there anyway - had a bad experience once).

Well, Orange offer the same device as the SPV M3100, so you might be able to upgrade.

That's a very nice phone and just about the only alternative is the Nokia E61 or Sony p990~could be wrong on the model no. I preferred the E61 on three so i got that, but my flat mate has the linked one on orange and he's been happy with the phone and simply had problems with orange's CS. Either way you should look into which contract suits you before you start looking for a phone.
