Access Internet on mobile phone via PC Bluetooth

Hi everyone, I have a Sony Ericsson K800i and I also have a bluetooth dongle attached to my pc. I am just wondering if anyone knows if or how you can access the internet on the phone via my pc so it does not cost anything? In the bluetooth options there is "bluetooth internet" but this just gives a list of accounts to connect with if you are accessing the internet on your laptop via your phone (I think). But I want it the other way around! Any ideas? Thanks.

i don't think this is possible. Could be wrong though.

Why do you want to do this anyway?

not sure why you'd want to do that - the pc will outperform the phone for any browsing/games/email/etc.

The other way around I understand - it'd be handy to be able to use the mobile as a "modem" in a crisis requiring the internet while on the move to give yourself a "proper" screen and keyboard.

Firstly, can you please at least attempt to use real words, since you patently arent writing this on your phone (as it wont work) theres no need to abbreviate.

To address the matter in question, if its for downloading games etc, do it on the pc, then push it out to the phone, or store it on the memory card in a card reader.

Most SE phones come with you a usb cable, my first bet would be to try that, although its not bluetooth it may work, although iirc it wont (long time since i played with SE software).

If its a feature youd desperately like in a phone, you can do it on any windows mobile based one.

firstly, i did use real words!
"superious" was simply a spelling mistake, for "superior".
a listtle like YOUR spelling mistake with "patently", which i assume should have been "blatently".

secondly, i had been on msn all day, and being only 17, i use a lot of "broken english" and abbreviations, and subconciously carried on on the hexus forums, without meaning to, as i tend to try not to.

    (no disrespect to hexus)

and u normal people wouldnt understand our urge to use our phones for the internet from time to time! we are not going to change out phone to do it, thats too far, and secondly, we wouldnt leave SE!

Or, just stop being cheap and use 3G.

Re Forum etiquette: I honestly don't care whether you've spent the day on MSN, I quite happily use Hexus and MSN at the same time (alongside IRC and a few others) and I can still construct a sentence. My spelling, on the other hand, is dire. I still make an effort to construct posts in a legible fashion.

Oh, and browsing sites on the k800i is dire, the only sites I'd actually use are the BBC News WAP site, and the GMail java applet to get my emails.

    nope

I frequently use msn to communicate, infact ive been known to msn someone in the next room to me because i couldnt be bothered shouting. theres no excuse for not at least attempting to structure your sentences properly and not use pointless abbreviations.

I understand entirely, I spend around an hour a day on the internet on my mobile, and taking that into account, purchased a handset suitable for that kind of use.

If youre desperate to stay with a SE phone (although i dont know why you would be) could i suggest the p990, which has wifi, or indeed the w950, which has 3G, and a half decent browser.

Dont quote me on this but yes i think you can, when you pair the phone to the pc , the pc should get a list of available functions from your phone, (i have not tested a k800i) then once you set it up it should work, but one thing i do know is, its not free! by friend ran up over a £1000 bill on vodafone! they told him it was free! so use at your own risk buddy

sorry zashark, but read it again, we mean the other way around. use your computers connection to browse on phone, rather than using the phones connection to browse with comp.

and to dave and herulach, im 17! i dont know if you are aware how most of us 17 year olds speak on msn, it is often looked down on by older people. and that is exactly how i speak on msn as it is so much quicker to type, and people who cant spell well, like you dave!, need not worry, as they may just spell as the word sounds.

also, again, i am 17! the highly reptable computer company known nationwide (YEAHH!)...that i used to work for has moved away from my home city now, and has left me redundant, without money. while studying, it is hard to get a job, letalone one that pays well enough for people like me, so i would not be able to use 3g! nor buy a new phone! the w800 which is nearly dead, and has only a 1-way joystick now, is all i have!

as for "patently". NOOO WAYY! is there a meaning that has nothing to do with patents! :O who are u herulach! the moderator of dictionary.com!?

And whilst I understand that you are 17, and that on MSN it may be normal to shorten/abbreviate words, its not normal on forums, which are there principally for discussion. As a moderator of a forum with members of all nationalities, the clear and correct spelling of words is much appreciated, as it makes it easier for others to understand. I dare say that it has a similar effect on the older generation, who might not be able to decipher txt spk so easily.

Oh, and for the record, I'm 19, but for some reason have been able to resist the overwhelming temptation to speak like a chav [/sarcasm]

On the matter of affording a contract phone, you were presented with all of the costs at signup, so saying I didn't realise doesn't help.

As I think I said before, don't bother with the internet on your phone (I've got the same model) its terrible.
