I think it must be to do with the bowing thing on the GTX, that really bends the board, maybe they have had some fatalities?

Well it can only be to combat/improve the bowing/cooling issue.
maybe they have had some fatalities?

The bowing thing is intentional..they supply a larger O rings and it bows the base of the block to make it convex...supposed to give better contact. That might work on mine

Yes, and I have a poker set with his signature on. I'm so proud

Strewth, must be 1 of your most treasured possessions. No wonder you kept that quiet, enough envy about as it is

I have just installed the WiFI Asus AP stuff, and have to say, it really works great. Only tried on one network so far (unencrypted). Getting better signal strength than on my Intel Centrino lappy. Software installed without trouble, didnt even need a reboot. On the negative side tho, the supplied cable for the antenna is quite short, about 1m i think, just long enough to put it on your desk. But aside of that, i am well surprised. Yay

I've not used the wifi, but its nice to know it works ok. I think you can buy longer aerial leads from maplins, I'm sure I saw one while I was looking for something else the other day.

I just tried it because i was curious how well it works. No need for longer cable, i am not gonna use it seriously. My PC stands right next to my router, cable connected, done. I wish they had a Deluxe version without WiFi when i got mine, would have saved me maybe 25$. But then again, when i sell it in a year or smth, it has higher value on eBay

Best way. i'm hoping mine stays like that, but we're moving on Friday & won't be able to have a cat5 connection between my wife's & my pc & internet , hence the switch to wifi router & wifi for 1pc. But which one

But yep i know what you mean, wifi for me is just an addon card nothing i want on a new mobo.

I couldnt live without my cable connection on my main pc. I have a gbit switch connected behind my router, and i do copy a lot of files through there from another pc. WLAN is nice, but i only have it for my laptop to sit outside in the garden once in a while

    Enjoy moving

Oh great news, thanks. Gonna flash right now too. I have been checking the damn asus website for the last days every hour or so hehe, and now i almost miss it because they put it on the ftp and dont update the website... well, thats asus.

Edit: **** i just flashed it, automatic restart, now nothing. PC is on, fans are running, but i dont get a picture, and it isnt loading anything either. Just hangs after flashing. Of course i used the correct bios file, i think it doesnt let you flash with a wrong one anyways. Well i guess thats the time to test that CrashFreee bios then

2nd Edit: Everything fine now. After a hard reset it showed 0501, then bad CMOS. I flashed it again from USB drive, now its all good again.

Hehe, oldskool. But speaking of strap, i dont quite get that. What does it do? Does the NB have a FSB too, and that settings forces it to the same as the 'real' FSB? So 266 and 266 MHz both?

Glad your ok had me going then
Seems ok with me but i can't test it fully.

Had an incident friday with my ram. after Playing with static read control, i lost it. wouldn'tpost. removed a ram module & it booted. Since then i've dropped ram speed to 1000 instead of 1200 with vd of 2.2v instead of 2.3v.

Just tried 1200 again in 0501 & got exactly same symptoms so back to 1000.
