    mATX for FX8350?

I really need to downsize my huge PC, when I got my FX8350 there were next to zero mATX options for the chip, is this still the case? I've seen some AMD mATX board about but not really heard much about them?

Is my only choice to spend out and go intel again?

    Re: mATX for FX8350?

    Do you overclock?

Edit: Most uATX boards are the ancient 760G chipset and only rated for 95W.

ASUS seem to do this 140W rated board: http://www.scan.co.uk/products/asus-...-on-board-matx

That has the 8350 in the supported CPU list and seems to have a bolted on USB3 controller at least. Still not exactly an aspirational board.

Weirdly there is an Asrock board that should be better but only supports 125W CPUs if they are Phenom II range.

    Re: mATX for FX8350?

The cooling and general airflow around uATX boards tends not to be as good, hence 140W boards are less common let alone the sort that can take a hefty overclock.

I notice this board is teased at on the ASUS site http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/M5A88M_EVO/

but the only place that Google Shopping could find it was http://www.pcupgrade.co.uk/productde...categoryid=569 who I haven't even heard of before.

The state of AM3+ motherboards makes me cross.

    It's a shame.

I guess I'll hold out longer and move back to Intel with Broadwell release.

    Re: mATX for FX8350?

This ASRock board is based off the slightly newer 785G chipset and is presumably the one DwU was talking about. As he says, CPU support doesn't list FX CPUs with > 95W TDP, which is indeed odd.

This gigabyte board has support listed right up to the 8350, has a meaty looking heatsink on the VRMs, and might be a decent and cheap option. It's the 760G chipset again though... OTOH, it's reasonably well kitted out with DVI/HDMI/VGA, USB 3, 4 RAM slots, 6 SATA (only SATA2 (3Gbps) though)....

The Gigabyte GA-78LMT-USB3 can actually handle an FX8320 looking at one or two threads on other forums.

    Re: mATX for FX8350?

The best one I can think of is M5A88-M (supports FX8350) which uses AMD 880G chipset ands supports up to DDR3 2000, has 6 x SATA III ports and USB 3. The only problem is it isn't widely available, here is a link to a store selling it : http://pcupgrade.co.uk/productdetail...categoryid=569

Really wish a 990fx mATX board was available :/
