Hi all
My lad's 10 now. We read to him most night still, although clearly he reads himself too.
There's a magic to a few books that we've read recently, where they've been SO good, either myself OR my wife read them to him and the other of us didn't listen or join in and read them seperately.
because they were genuinely brilliant books.
In one case, Sair was reading a new book to him and they both emplored me to read it alone to catch up to then share the last chapters... I did so and honestly within 1 chapter I was hooked and I NEARLY over read! I nearly went beyond where they were... it was so exciting.
So.... which books am I talking about? (I have to say here - HEXUS and I have no connection in anyway to the books, author or publishers etc... they're just awesome books)

The Letter for the King by Tonke Dragt
It's a translation and it works well as a translation, because it captures the essence of the original heartland of the authors imagination. Find reviews online and you;ll know if it's up your street.

Secrets of the Wild Wood by Tonke Dragt
Part two of the above... and just as good.

The Legend of Podkin One-Ear by Kieran Larwood
This is viably better, as it's shorter and faster with less politics than the two above... and yes it's about rabbits....but it's NOT Watership down.. it's more like Post Apocolypse hell... and it's titally utterly awesome and page turningly amazing
so.... your turn people?
