Reading Ice and Fire at the mo. A big ass story but easy to read and gripping characters.
Lord of the rings - everyone should read that, fast paced action for such a large book.
Ian Banks- The wasp factory. An excellent darkly funny book.
Anything by Douglas Adams.
Any of Mo Hayder's books but Birdman especially. Tokyo is also pretty creepy - I had nightmare about it after reading it.
Kill Your Boss by Shane Kuhn is also a decent little read.
If you like the cyber noir genre then I quite enjoyed Richard Morgan's Kovacs trilogy - Altered Carbon, Woken Furies and Broken Angels.
I'd recommend Back of Beyond by C J Box. It follows this guy whose having problems finding himself in life and his family member becomes a victim of circumstance - it's a good paced gritty story that draws on real human motivations. These is nothing supernatural and no real hero complexes in this tale, which makes for a thoroughly enjoyable read in my opinion.
This thread has made me realise that the books I read are never stand alone v.v
That being said, I recommend some oldies such as Treasure Island and Little Women. They were required reading in Uni, and they are surprisingly interesting to read.
The Sheep Look Up, by John Brunner. Over 40 years old but just as relevant today. Science Fiction with a powerful message. Brilliant.
If it hasn't been suggested already Mark Haddon's A Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nighttime is AWESOME!! Truely awesome, utterly hilarious and very touching
I bought the girl with all the gifts because the Blurb on the back sounded pretty interesting and I'm glad I did. Well paced and the ending was brilliant.
It's a zombie kinda of story but different enough to be good
Fantasy book by K.J Parker
Part of a series
Devices and desires.
Hey Swamplife,
What do you think of the new Eberhart book? I have their previous two and while they are both good books they contain a lot of repetitive information. Let me know if you have a chance. Thanks,

Pride and Prejudice
Jane Austen
Leaf By Niggle, by J.R.R. Tolkien.
I still haven't much clue what he was trying to say, but I haven't forgotten it 12 months after reading and still think about it.
The Fort & Azincourt
Both by Bernard Cornwell and both excellent.
Also i've read the Hannibal series by Ben Kane.
