Really great mix of action and comedy without becoming too corny. Something that is difficult to find these days.

Action, comedy, romance all very well. Extremely poor sci-fi imho however.

    Re: Edge of Tomorrow -

As others have said, great film, despite poor box office numbers. I went to the cinema only once around the time of its release, and it was; edge of tomorrow, days of future past or 22 jump street. I was with friends and we opted for the comedy for the laugh, certainly regretted that after seeing edge of tomorrow. I must admit I am a fan of a number of Tom Cruises work, where as I know a lot of people dislike him. Oblivion was a great film in my opinion and I was very glad to have seen it in the cinema. With my enjoyment of that in the back of my mind, I had fairly high expectations for this film, yet worried the trailer may have showed the best bits. WRONG. It was enjoyable from start to finish, really interesting film and a load of great, great action!

    Re: Edge of Tomorrow -

I was impressed with the production and I am usually a fan of Cruise's work, even if not his chosen spirituality...

This EoT was okay, but nothing to write home about unless you're heavily into Emily Blunt as well.
Recycled plot, standard effects, good cinematography, reasonable dialogue, nothing glaringly bad... but nothing especially outstanding either.

Would have been thrice as awesome if this had come out before the Groundhog Day type stories had become mainstream.

    Re: Edge of Tomorrow -

Didn't really rate this movie much. The effects were pretty good but the first half of the movie was tedious and the plot... meh.
Once he started living longer and things got going it was a bit better but overall it was decidedly average IMO.

    Re: Edge of Tomorrow -

I thought it was pretty effective; not the best SciFi I've ever seen, but excellent performances, excellent effects, a story that rattled along well - can't ask for much more than that, really.
