    Jurassic World?

On the one hand, the prospect of a dinosaur-fueled, movie thriller where a hunter rides out with a pack of jurassic hunting dogs to bring down a freak of nature is potentially awesome. Although I might have to have tissues on hand for when Fido-saurus sacrifices himself in the jaws of the beast to protect his master. Never thought I'd get teary-eyed over a prehistoric lizard... Oh wait, never mind.

On the other hand, maybe the better story here would be the efforts of team going to any lengths, including the creation of CGI mutant dinosaurs, to resurrect a long-dead movie franchise.

No trees were harmed in the creation of this message. However, many electrons were displaced and terribly inconvenienced.

I suspect Michael Crichton is spinning in his grave as I type this. I would be more interested in seeing some of his other stuff being filmed though.

    Re: Jurassic World?

He has already had a large number of films made from his books :

    1971 The Andromeda Strain
    1972 Dealing: or the Berkeley-to-Boston Forty-Brick Lost-Bag Blues
1972 The Carey Treatment (A Case of Need)
    1974 The Terminal Man
1979 The First Great Train Robbery
    1993 Jurassic Par
    1993 Rising Sun
    1994 Disclosure
    1995 Congo
1997 The Lost World: Jurassic Park
    1998 Sphere
1999 The 13th Warrior (Eaters of the Dead)
    2003 Timeline
2008 The Andromeda Strain (TV miniseries)

Probably more than this, as Wiki is not always up to date.
    Cheers, David

    Re: Jurassic World?

I saw the trailer yesterday. Was not that impressed. I also don't see the point of making another Jurassic Park film, the first was an enjoyable movie, rest sucked IMO.

    Re: Jurassic World?

It's nice to have a dinosaur film again. I like watching them for the visual aspect and this looks pretty good. Hopefully it's not a film where the trailer is better than the film.. I don't love the series, yet somehow I've managed to watch all of the films over 20 times :/

    Re: Jurassic World?

I found the first one good fun with reasonable tension. After that it just looked like franchise milking, which I suspect this will be. Still, best not to pre-judge these things...

Yeah I know, didn't know about Timeline being made. Airframe or Prey would make pretty good films IMO.

    Re: Jurassic World?

I'm in, wholeheartedly but on ONE condition. That there's more practical effects than we've seen in the trailer!

Loved the first movie and to me it still stands up to this day, the second one was hit and miss and ignored too much of what made the book worth while in my opinion and as for the third... Well let's just say it had its moments although they were few and far between and involved a lot of ogling Tea Leoni.

Having just watched Guardians of the Galaxy I'm happy with Chris Pratt as the lead and the concept is what it needs to be in order to get people back on Isla Nublar, hopefully with Spielberg producing it won't get too outlandish either. What it needs is a little of that Stan Winston studio magic because going back and watching the original those practical effects hold up so well and add so much compared to a lot of the CGI based effects fests that followed.

I'm not a fan that they're using genetically modified dinosaurs in this new film. It just seems like it will ruin the film for me.

    Re: Jurassic World?

The first one does stand the test of time and whilst i'm not sold on concept for this trailer I will go to see so i suppose that is a win as far as the producers are concerned.

Not really keen on the super-dinosaur plot. Hopefully there is some depth there.

    Re: Jurassic World?

Jurassic World is scheduled to be released on June 12, 2015, and it is listed as one of the top 5 movies in 2015. I'm looking forward to it but don't know whether this movie can impress me.
