I really liked Carivale, great show. Didn't get the ratings though, think it was to weird for a lot of people.

    Re: Game of Thrones

I'm interested in what you all think of the books compared to the TV Show.

It seems to me that the series is following the same path as Dexter and True Blood. Taking some fantastic characters from the books, but deviating freely from the story in order to make it batter. The perfect example in the show are the scenes with Arya and Tywin Lanister. Created some very tense drama, but not in the book.

I agree about the Ayra & Tywin Arc, it made Arya's "journey" more interesting, in the books I found her journey relatively dull. Some of the other minor differences to the bugs me though.

Yeah- probably I think it was too ahead of its time TBH.

The whole Dystopian / Steampunk / Avante Garde / Carnivale thing is very in vogue nowadays , If it had been released now as more of a darker cabaret play on stuff like Grimm / Once Upon a time ( modern day fairytales ) - I think i would of worked well. ( esp if it was more Victorian with Lewis Carroll, Dickens, Jack the ripper etc )

What about Rob & Jon ?

I honestly feel they could of forgot about them till season 3 , they added nothing that watchable at all .

Rob's story is almost over, he's just an object lesson in playing the Game of Thrones. He won every battle and lost everything else.

    Jon's story has hardly started.

You realise you just made Rob more interesting now ?

Now if he took a Anakin dive , lost his love and became some death knight badass raised from the dead the transformation would be complete.

Any one remember Lord Soth from Ravenloft ?

Thumbs up Re: Game of Thrones

That twittery thing was frakkin' hilarious Singh400

Is there more? I'd like to see the whole saga played out via social media

Edit: I don't use FB, Twitter or any of that stuff but must admit some of the stuff (real) ppl come out with, as reported in the 'normal' press, can be quite fascinating

    Re: Game of Thrones

Right this thread has convinced me to start watching this series (my bro has the 1st series).

I didn't think it would be for me but enough people have been on about it for me to think lets give it a go Actually i thought the hype would be just yanks loving a historical accent whilst proclaiming they are 1/64 Irish type thing but it looks like this might have enough back bone - nice one
