The Butterfly Effect - I was expecting it to be a laid-back sci-fi film, not something involving child abuse and some psychopathic kid blowing babies up! And the outcome is somewhat better but still depressing.

The ear scene from Reservoir Dogs.. it made me very uncomfortable watching it on the first couple of viewings.. you definitely get de-sensitised after repeated watches though.
Rape sequence in Watchmen, I just didnt see it coming, admittedly its not *that* bad, but Sally is a bit sensitive to such things and we had to dump the film, never to be seen again.
The end of Chosen Survivors, vampire bats in nuclear bunker - Im still looking for a copy if anyone has it !!
Agree with Event Horizon, but I do love that one
and if I'm perfectly honest, the bit in Harry Potter near the end of Deathly Hallows - I'd not heard anything about it and that was a shock !
I have to say, this is one of the best surprises I have ever had from a film. There must have been a couple of endings filmed because I'm certain the version I first saw had him as a sperm choosing not to fertilise the egg, and every ending I've seen since has been based around him walking down a street where he and she pass with different potential outcome. Very weird, and refreshing to see a movie end like that.
The other one was the final scenes of From Dusk Till Dawn. I knew LITERALLY nothing about this film when I saw it, and didn;t see the switch from gangster/road movie to vampire flick coming. It was silly enough to be memorable, and gruesome enough to hold the attention throughout. As for Selma... WOW! Lucky snake

Haha, I was in the same boat.....knew nothing about it before watching and QTs character had already had some odd scenes where things got played out in his warped mind.....it took a while of vampage before I realised it wasn't another of those scenes and that I was actually now watching a vamp flick!

Pan's Labyrinth. Several moments, but especially near the end.
The scene in Alien vs Predator requiem where the little boy and his dad find the facehugger, expected the dad to get it for sure, but the kid?
Killing a child in the movies is seen as a taboo I guess that's what shocked me the most.
Brought back memories of the Warlock, when julian sands boils the childs fat so that he can fly, although you never actually see anything.
I'd agree with Antichrist, that film is just nasty.
My flickr - My blog it'sfilmnotmovie
The Truman Show - I had no idea carey could be serious - nor the film would be too.
The end of this film which Id never seen until now, now I know why
m
I'm finding it difficult to find anything surprising or shocking about the ending of the black hole.
Now maybe it's because I have seen the movie loads of times I don't know.
Someone want to let me in on what I appear to be missing?
i wish i'd known the harry potter bit i am not keen but my 7 year old wanted to watch them all so we did at xmas as all his mates had and he cried his eyes out when that happened. He also did so when they captured bumblebee in transformers.
For me the Exorcist scene with the crucifix deeply disturbing i watched that as a very young child as well i think i was about 8 or 9
Seeing Jar Jar Binks for the first time.
Then seeing him survive the prequel trilogy.
