Film scenes that suprised or shocked you ?

The ending of the black hole

( I must of been 7-8 so it left an impression - no wonder it was edited )

Re: Film scenes that suprised or shocked you ?

The woman swallowing the eyeball in Evil Dead 2, its literally a laugh out loud OMG moment. Jumping on the trapdoor to get her mother back in and the eyeball pops out the socket and as she screams it shows the eyeball flying across the room into her mouth.

Also Braindead, one of Peter Jacksons early films, the bit with the old woman eating the custard and if I remember rightly her ear drops off into it and she eats it. Then the end with the lawnmower used to cut through all the creatures. I have a strong stomach and nothing ever bothers me at all, but that one scene with the ear is just foul.

Then there are the 2 Dario Argento Demons films, they are just freaky in general. Creep me out to this day after seeing them late 80's and early 90's. Havnt watched them since. I just dont like the way the Demons act and the sound they make. Its really unerving. They do have a cult following to this day, I just cant get away with them

Final mention has to go to David Cronenbergs Naked Lunch, its just weird and freaky rolled into 1 film. Peter Weller (Robocop 1 & 2) pulls off the role absolutely fantastic. I wouldnt say it is shocking as such, its just really weird.

I like Argentos work, seen most of them are you talking about the "The Witch Trilogy " that starts with Suspiria ?

    Dont remember demons ..

I find Begotten more disturbing personally , perhaps even the Holy Mountain too.

Re: Film scenes that suprised or shocked you ?

    No, they were actuallycalld Demons.

They are about a mask that nicks a wearer and it poisons their blood and turns theminto a demon. The first film is set in a cinema, all the teens end up in there and they get bricked in when a monster type feature starts which everyone has been given masks for. Except one of the masks is the one to infect and it all starts there.

    http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0089013/

The second one similar things happen at a girls birthday party in a tower block with demons running amok.

    http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0090930/

My mistake Argento was the writer not director.

Going to have to source that trilogy you have mentioned, sounds right up my street, trailer is weird

There was a particularly "nasty" scene in Antichrist that made me cringe and squirm, even though I have watched stuff that should have been worse......just that scene got me....

Re: Film scenes that suprised or shocked you ?

Pretty much all of Cronenbergs "Videodrome", I flicked onto it not knowing what it was when I was about twelve and it warped my fragile little mind.

More recently I found some of the scenes in the un-cut release of Cannibal Holocaust to be quite shocking. I've seen animals slaughtered before and never been all that squeamish over it but the inherent glee with which the scenes are shot (particularly the famous turtle sequence) adds a really dark tone to all of it. Honestly the most shocking part is that it's not all exploitation, that the film has a brain and a purpose and it makes it's case in the nastiest way possible.

I didn't actually think it was that bad. What shocked me were the coach loads of parents taking children to see it, especially in the states

Event Horizon, went to watch it at the cinema without reading any reviews. Thought I was going to see a sci-fi film or space adventure etc. Literally got the shock of my life, full on horror fest!!

AVP2 the scene in the hospital with the woman, I mean why? what were the directors and writers thinking of, or more to the point what were they smoking.
