You're going to like this about as little as I did...

    ...but here it is:

Empire: Movie News - Mel Gibson Going Back In Front Of Camera

Move away from any hard surfaces and sharp objects, and please free to don protective headgear in case of work surface/cranial interface, but in news which confirms that history the second time around IS farce, Edge of Darkness is being movie-fied. Starring Mel Gibson. Mel ****ing Gibson. In Bob Peck's shoes. Presumably they'll get Paris Hilton in the Joanne Whalley role, and get Dolph Lundgren to play Jedburgh....

Great news, maybe he can find time to fit in some anti-English rhetoric and some right-wing Cathloic views whilst he's filming. Good old Mel.

Well, OK, that's bad in and of itself, true, but EoD was one of the finest ever BBC drama productions. See "Edge of Darkness" (1985) (mini) for details.

Whats not to like about the Gimpson? He ticks practically all the boxes, he helps zealots cerment their beliefs with little understanding of when/why the events depicted came to been in the bible, he gets away with drunk driving and been a racist facist. Plus he seams to hate jews.

All in all he'd make a better Prime Minster than Gordon.

Mad Max was good though. And Braveheart. And Lethal Weapon 1/2. And his various mullets.
