I never watched Gladiator at the cinema....
.... and I really wanted to. Does anyone know anywhere that shows old films? I think it would be a fantastic idea to have a Cinema that not only shows new films but re-run old films as well.

Re: I never watched Gladiator at the cinema....
Odeon occasionally do a season in the summer where they will show the old classic films. Few years ago I remember going to see the origional version of Star Wars there. It was awesome to say the least.
They also had on Reservoir Dogs and Natural Born Killers back on due to them having a home video ban at the time. |

You could ask at a local arthouse cinema if you have any near by.
There is one in Aberdeen that used to offer private party viewings. I con'ta remember how much it was, but you could organise just about any film to be shown. It was for birthdays etc. Never went to one, but I can imagine they would have been quite good. Probably a bit expensive if you just want to see a particular film on your own though

Re: I never watched Gladiator at the cinema....
My local Cineworld (I think) did a spate of this as Ferral said - I went to see Withnail & I on the big screen last summer - it was brilliant.
My father worked on 'Gladiator' so I went to see it when it first came out, love the film.

Re: I never watched Gladiator at the cinema....
It's difficult enough for theatres to get the cinema full for new releases I think it wouldn't be economically viable to show classics. It's a real shame. I remember seeing 5 star trek movies in a row in the nineties. Crap movies but a great experience. They do a lot of double bills in Canada which I am sure would be popular in the UK.

I saw Gladiator in theatres when it came out...'twas simply awesome. I'd love to see it on the big screen again sometime.

Re: I never watched Gladiator at the cinema....
cheaper options:
- watch it on DVD but sit really close to the screen with some popcorn and stick a pair of extra speakers behind you - borrow a projector off someone and do option 1.

Re: I never watched Gladiator at the cinema....
I sincerely doubt it on the holding horses part but he was probably in jeans!
He made some of the armour - a few of them involved went down to the Germanic (Hampshire) forest battle scene to keep the armour intact and all. Most of the armour was plastic/polyurethane stuff but he did a load of the metal bits, my enduring memory is watching him down in the garage doing plate after plate of the version of the lorica that the film company designed.
