best film ive seen this year to be honest and def in the all time top 10 in my books.

Ledger is in my opinion PERFECT in his Joker role.

I thought it was a highly enjoyable film but not perfect.

It went on too long for my liking and it was a bit too intense with the information in some scenes I couldn't grasp what was happening.

Also it got a bit too preachy with the morals I at end but all in all its a 9/10 film for me regardless.

It seems the Shawshank fanboys have taken umbrage with IMDB listing TDK as #1. Shawshank beating The Godfather is a rather larger upset than TDK's rapid rise. But remember, it's 'Top 250' not 'Best 250'.

If Hedge doesn't get an oscar for that, I will literally eat my pants. You can hold me to that.

For once a film lives up to the hype surrounding it, I wasn't dissapointed in the slightest!

There will probably be the usual internet backlash soon, as it becomes cool to dislike something many people like, but if you haven't seen it, ignore the clowns (narf!) and go watch it. From the viewpoint of a massive batman fan, comics/movies/series/anything - it was absolutely stonking.

I`ve never read the Comics but am sorely tempted to now but I have heard from some die hard comic book fans that these films have been a lot closer to the original comics and that Heath is a lot more like how the joker was supposed to be

    Re: The Dark Knight

I just saw dark knight and well umm it has definitely met my expectations in many ways. First off, the pace of the movie was perfect, a mixture of suspense, action and drama. Spot on period.

Length of movie: spot on also, not a dull moment throughout the movie, ever line, every scene, every character was absolutely great and interesting.

Now who stole the show? Its obvious. JOKER i.e. Mr Ledger was ABSOLULETLY AMAZING. Sooo amazing that I had a VERY hard time believing it was Mr. Ledger behind that painted face! The way he played out his character was totally different to what he normally plays and his actual personality. It was like day and night watching him. Its like watching jack black star in a epic drama movie with no comedy scenes or anything and making it look as if jack black does these sorts of roles with his eyes closed. Heath Ledger really was amazing. So amazing that I have to say that he has definitely played a better joker then Nicolson himself!

Before this movie, I didn’t rate Heath Ledger at all but after this, I really hate this guy for tossing his life away like that because he could have had a wonderful career has a actor and could have been a legend with the likes of tom hanks and denzal Washington.

The only downside to this movie I can think of is that Heath Ledger was soo good that my current fav actor Christian bale looked like a amateur. A very poor show from him but I think its not because pf Christian bale’s performance, but because Heath Ledger was That good.

All and all this definitely deserves to be on my top 20 list of best movies but number 1 that it is currently in imdb. Nope still not quite there. Had all the actors gave the same energy and commitment has Heath Ledger then we can discuss this being in the top 5.

he didnt toss his life away, it was an acidental overdoss which is a huge shame . I thought he was amazing as the joker and certainly deserves an oscar. Good film, i thought it was at the end and was ready for the credits but no it continued i seriously thought it would end before joker etc(dont want to spoil it lol). Watch it if you can

Just got back from seeing it.. I can't actually believe how good that was.

I think thats probably the best movie I've ever seen at the cinema and it's not only the best comic book movie to date imo I dare say it sort of deserves to be where it is on IMDB's top 250 .. I'll change my mind on that when I calm down

I felt that there maybe should have been a little more of Michael Caine in it..although all his scenes were very memorable and everyone's acting was some what over shadowed by Mr Ledger who was simple amazing. I think if I were on set with him I'd actually have been a bit scared he might just cut my face off for fun, he was that good lol I'll second eating my pants if he doesn't get an oscar for that.

did you know that they asked Hedge Ledger's parents if they wanted to "alter" the ending after his death?

He died because he had trouble sleeping and adjusting to normal life after he had finished the movie but couldnt. during the making fo this film i heard he would lock himself in a room all day and practise being the joker. he also diddnt have much sleep as well so he realy was in to character indeed. he outshined everyone. Bale looked liked a passanger in this wonderful joy ride of a movie

i would not say it deserves number 1 though, its a great movie but IMO its not better then some of my favourites siuch has saving private ryan and the godfather

iirc he already had troubles sleeping, i cant remember the exact info on how he died but i remember it was acidentle. Im not saying it wasnt his fault, i have no idea but im just saying he was good and shouldnt be noticed for tossing his life away etc but the fact he did a good part and was good in other films.

ITs a loss of a talent but as hiks said it wasnt his fault as in he wanted to kill himself he just took too many sleeping pills without checking the implications.

It really is a loss to the next batman films though (and his family and the world and all that stuff to lol ) . I'd be suprised if the role wouldn't have beed reprised in the later films given how amazing he was, now I think it is perhaps doubtful we will see another one, as those are might big shoes to fill if someone does wish to attempt it.

or maybe.... THE PENGUIN lol. I to think the joker wont be back simply because the actor died and that he did VERY well in it and so it would be extremely difficult to find a good actor for it.

    Will give it a 8/10.

Very impressive, but i think the problem with imdb is that from what i have read there has been "voting wars" which is incredibly stupid. Basically Batman fans voting Godfather 1/10 etc to lessen the overall score to push Batman to no1.

    crazy

I'm pretty sure Nolan said there will not be a Penguin as he's a stupid villan... and he's got a good point
