Saw it this evening - I thought it was fantastic throughout. The Joker was one helluva deranged character and played brilliantly. Christian Bale was totally overshadowed in this film.

Joker aside I think every single scene kept your attention as you never knew what was going to happen, especially with the joker around.

Thought two-face didn't really get a look in although probably a good thing as he didnt have much more motivation than what was covered.

Overall the screenplay was fantastic and Chris Nolan has pulled off another great film direction-wise - worthy of an oscar himself by now!

The penguin would be a bit rubbish but surely a place for Mr Freeze

As long as it's not arnie lol.

I prefer these more.. real.. villans. The joker in this movie is probably the scariest thing I've ever seen in a film (i laugh at horror movies.. i don't like them). It's hard to believe it's Ledger underneath because it feels so nerve rackingly real.

I havn't calmed down yet so it's still worthy of IMDB's top spot to me

I'm going to watch it again because.. I just have to lol

I struggled to decided whether I prefered Batman begins or Iron Man but there is no comparison between them and The Dark Knight.

After all the hype and everyone telling me it was amazing, hell even a ridiculous IMDB score, I started preparing myself for a over-hyped disappointment. Boy was I wrong, and I'm so glad I was.

Totally agree with piggeh about Bale being overshadowed in this film but that wasn't a bad thing at all. Just makes me sad we won't see Heath do that performance again.

Have to say the one problem I had with this film was Bale's Batman voice, my god it was hard to understand sometimes. It was like he had smoked 500 fags everyday since the day he was born.

As for a villain for the 3rd film I think The Riddler could fit in well with the realistic universe that Nolan has created.

What have you guys thought of seeing it in IMAX, is it worth going to try and see it in IMAX? Hell I'm not even sure what city's have IMAX theatres.

I saw it last night. Not bad. I really liked the joker in this movie. Loved what he stood for.
    I give it 7/10.

And it knocked the Godfather of top place? WTF.
There is no way that The Dark Knight beats the Godfather. No way.
As good as the Dark Knight was, It didn't have nowhere near the impact on me as Fight Club or the first Matrix.

If Heath Ledger was still alive I don't think it would have got where it is now.
The last Batman with Bail in was also a good film aswell. Dark Knight, Good film but not amazing.

well said. dark knight is a great movie but not has good as the matrix and even saving private ryan which is an amazing epic movie. doesnt deserve to be top spot in IMDB but i guess most users think otherwise and HOPE its because they feel it was the best movie they ever seen NOT because of heath ledgers death.

ironicly i have heard that teh people who have voted 10/10 for dark knight are voting 1/10 for the godfather

Lol yeah.. war of the fan boi's

They really need to grow up and..grow something else too, but they are probably just 14 year olds or seriously militant movie buffs (or both)

I think a lot of my reason for liking it so much is that it is the best movie I've ever seen in the cinema, not seen Godfather or Shawshank there and even if I did now it wouldn't be the same.

The idea of the Matrix shocked me a lot more when I first saw that and all the bullet time stuff was really nice but as an overall movie, dialogue, direction, acting.. the dark knight has it beat hands down imo and it left me far happier than the Matrix did. Let us not forget that this was the sequel as well and with it at a significant disadvantage considering the amount of hype it had to fufil. We all know what happened with the Matrix sequels I don't actually mind the sequels but they are not a patch on the original

It felt more like a crime thriller to me than a batman movie which gave the batman series a completly new edge. He's still the pivotal role of course but it used to much better effect than any other comic book movie which is why when the dust settles from the fan boi war I think it should remain top 10

Watched this over the weekend. Not spent the time to read through 5 pages of this thread; I'll just add my comments/views on the film.

    It was good.

    That is all.

Actually, the whole "Heath Ledger" is supreme stuff is OTT in my view. Yes he was good as the Joker but Christian Bale did an excellent job as did the actor who played the new/main DA (brain fried this morning).

I found the whole film to be PAINSTAKINGLY long...it really felt like 160minutes. At times it plodded along so bad, I was thinking of other stuff while watching the film. The storyline was actually good and I liked the aspect that drives the Joker to do what he does. Also, it was nice to see a film that doesn't overly concentrate on the tricks/gadgets and more on what shapes both the heroe and the baddies (I'm looking at you Mr 007).

Some of the reviews suggested it felt over long but I didn't notice it at all. I was completely wrapped up in it.

I have to I never read too many of the comics so are there any other stand out villain's that we havn't seen before?

hehe for me the first matrix had some nice dialoge and the main bad guy from the original matrix was brillient and done hsi role realy well. the reason why i rate matrix higher is because it had a unique storyline and unique way of doing on screen action. when i look at dark knight, i dont see any uniqeness in the movie at all BUT it does what it does brilliently.

Certainly a couple there I don't know, Hush certainly so.

This has highlighted the biggest problem with the Dark Knight though, where do you actually go from here?

As bad guys go it will be nigh on impossible to top the joker while keeping to the realms of reality... I wonder.

I just watched Batman Begins again.. Even that has lost some of it's magic for me as Liam Nelson just isn't bad enough lol

Agree, if anyone thinks Dark Knight is long, try watching a Bollywood movie!

Oh I know that much which is why when he turns up at wayne manor later in the film I thought it was nice you get the lines

Bruce: Ras Al gul (spelling?) Is dead, I watched him die.

Ras: But is Ras Al Gul imortal? Are his methods.. supernatural?

I guess that was one for the comic book fans but it was nice that it was put in

I have never read any comic books in my life but after this summer I am gonna start getting into some.

I`ll be buying watchmen on payday but if I wanted to get into Batman what would be the best comics to read? are there some novel types that would bring me up to speed?
