This isn't meant to be an all-out rant about Lost, because I know for some reason a lot of people are damn obsessed with it.
My beef is with the sheer amount of repitition which occurs from episode to episode, where only the middle 20 minutes or so is actually original footage, the rest of it appearing in a previous episode, or scheduled to appear in a later one. This might be to remind people what's going on, or why they are in a certain situation or whatever, but to me it's the equivalent of talking really slowly to make a 10 minute presentation fill 30, and has made the series unwatchable for me as I stop paying attention when they start replaying stuff that happened in the past, as though I'd forgotten it and not got a clue what's going on. I don't need them reminding me, when I watch something I generally pay enough attention to it that I don't require constantly being told what's going on, and how they got to where they are. It comes off as slighlty patronising. Anyone care to disagree? |

I agree that the series genrelly move very slowly, and get to the point where it very annoying and frustrating, but sometimes the replays show different stuff, and highlight other areas of the scene where other characters are in the background- stuff I didn't notice before.
There are some episodes which bascailly repeat the previous one tho, wich i hate. At the end of the day i just want to know what happens, but the producers obivusly want to slow everything down...

Disagree you with there.
I've watched a lot (if not all) of the Lost episodes out, and it has gotten so deep into the story line that if they didn't do the reptition at the start - even people who have been watching lost wouldn't understand what has being happening (unless they have been watching every single episode within that one day, one after the other). |

The repitition doesn't bother me so much as theres so many storylines running side by side its often neccasary, whats annoying me is the gaps between new episodes at the moment

I've seen every episode of Lost to date and I find that they repeat relevant parts of the story at the beggining for about 1 minute. However in the first 2 episodes of series 2 or so, they did reapeat a lot of the previous episode for some reason

I love lost, but i have a feeling it will end up as one of those series that peope love at first, but end up hating. I think it will end up the way the X files did - 2 seasons too long because the producers are greedy and milk it for everything they can. My god, how bad was the X Files near the end.

yeah, shame that happened. I remember watching xfiles first time it ran...really really great series...then mulder naffed off and it got all weird. not quite sure what to make of it after that. I loved the way it was with one-off investigations into things like human-slug like creatures or killer parasites etc. when it started to get all heavy on fbi politics I my interest wavered somewhat and it was no lonber about paranormal activity but limos with shaded windows and dimmly lit rooms. bring back the wierd creatures I say!!
Please, Don't ask for that one 'as a desktop'...its really not worth wasting your time asking, unless you're able to pay £££?

Yeah the US is in episode 17 now, and by this time in the first series they had been on the island about 4 weeks i think, in series 2 they at this stage through the series they had progressed 8 days since the last episode of season 1, its very slow progress but i still love the show.
Oh yeah, if anyone wants to read a really good theory into whats going on, check out the thread below; WARNING: Will Contain Spoilers: http://www.4815162342.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=7712

I absolutely detest the wait between episodes.
Taking breaks etc wth man?? I cant follow the story and quite frankly I'm sick of it now.. Lost has been going slow for about 6 episodes. I might wait til they all out, then watch it in one go. |
