    Punk

    So while rooting around for my clippers yesterday I stumbled across;

One of my favourites, but it dawned on me, it's 1 of only 2 punk rock albums I've ever bought. I seem to have rather overlooked the genre in my love of metal.

So good punk records, fire away.

    Re: Punk

Caught Bad Religion live this summer, great band

I'm very similar to be honest, I love my rock and metal but often overlook Punk. Rancid - Indestructible is a firm favourite though as is ...And out come the wolves, in fact thinking about it I love most of Rancids stuff. Black Flag were a great band in my opinion too although not to everyones taste and of course there are the classics - The Ramones, The Clash and The Ruts (severly under-rated and awesome) with whom you really can't go far wrong

    Re: Punk

Sex Pistols: never mind the bollocks... 100%

    and though I don't think it's 100% punk...

London Calling.. and if you need telling who's album it is.. .... go find it

NB: I own NEITHER of these. Metal boy through and through.. but I have heard them all many many times with friends and at parties through my (quite young) childhood and without a doubt, had my stubborn head, denim jacket and Maiden /Motorhead patches not stopped me, I'd have owned them all.

Oh man Bad Relgion. I have been a massive fan for aslong as I can remember.
Proper highlight seeing them play the Camden Underworld quite a few years ago, around 200 of us, they were on for nearly 2 hours as well

Not entirely sure it falls strictly under the punk catagory....
but Rise Against, either Siren Songs Of The Counter Culture, or Revolutions Per Minute.

hmm punk is great when its done right - but terrible when done wrong.. ( I think it has less margin for error than other genres ) I havent really listened to much other than the usual favs - I mean Im more into Industrial at heart or anything with a bad ass drum machine ( aka sisters of mercy ) .

I do hear a lot of groups with one or two good songs and sometimes more but its very hard to find anything like the consistency you'd get in gorups like The Cure , so I really havent heard any new groups i liked in general for a long time in any genre as most is just watered down rehashed stuff or worse.

The other thing noticeable is that so many folk mix different styles now its hard to tell sometimes what is what..

The Knife for me have probably been the overall standout group in terms of quality with probably TV on Radio not far behind..

Bit disappointed with the new stuff from Gallows. New singer has just changed their sound too much.
