Albums / Songs that people won't have heard of....

Thought I'd start a new thread in here with a bit of a twist.

Put forward your albums or songs that you think 99% of people won't have heard of. I'm looking for the really obscure bands that you've heard on MySpace, Last.fm and so on.
Don't really want to define on the limits of posting, but I think a general rule would be nothing that has been in the chart album wise, or at least entered and left very quickly.

I've recently been getting into ambient and chill-out a lot more and stumbled across 'R/R Coseboom' (a rather unusual name I know). It has a bit more of a beat than most chill-out, but I find it works really well.

A few Youtube links (1) ,(2), but my fav is only on Spotify http://open.spotify.com/track/7ftagwF2i9YbFsbizcQdCI#

Secondly is a group (Person?) called Emancipator. I found this years ago and forgot about the album till recently. Must have brought it back in 06 sometime when the guy was sending his album out on home burnt disks

    http://www.emancipatormusic.com/

Second track (playlist on the right) is a good indication of what to expect. The first one seems to be a bit different to the norm. A real of stuff from this one, but certainly a few favourite songs on there.

So obscure stuff......any genre.... what you got?

Listened to a couple of R/R Coseboom tracks you linked to, they seem quite odd, but strangely you zone right into them and listen to the weird sounds.

A band I've recently discovered and I've gotten really into are Niki & the Dove, they're quite a weird band and hard to describe, but give them a listen and see what you think.

http://open.spotify.com/track/2fdd8iyuaGO2kruHrNZgwv - that's my favourite from their recent album.

Re: Albums / Songs that people won't have heard of....

Probably about 90% of music I listen to isn't going to bother the charts, so by the loose constraints of this thread I could post quite a bit...

Just to pick one from the more obscure reaches though:

Stearica - an Italian instrumental rock band
Saw them support Acid Mothers Temple last year and was very impressed. I think they've only done one album on their own (containing this), but they also did a very good collaboration with the aforementioned Acid Mothers Temple: here

That reminds me of Talons - basically a post-metal type arrangement with violins.

They were another support act - in this case I think they supported Three Trapped Tigers, who are less obscure but definitely worth checking out - the best description I heard of them was "clank" which seemed to sum them up perfectly

Ohhh Redgum an Australian folk political music group from the 70's/80's. I got into them after their song I was only 19 got to number 1 in Australia in the early 80's and prompted a Inquiry in to the effects of Agent Orange on Australian Veterans of Vietnam.

The problem is, it's a small minority of people that listen to the less well known songs, so this is very much a niche thread.

Don't get me started on obscure tracks. I always did go for the weird stuff.

A couple of my favourites. I'm still into '70s prog rock

    Here's Danse Macabre by Esperanto

and Cool me down by Nutz. I went to see this band back in about 1976 at the Brunel University Union bar (Yes, I am that old)

    Jane Taylor - Montpelier.

Bristolian singer-song-writer and guitarist. Beautiful ethereal voice and charming songs. May be a bit girly for most on here but the Mrs and I love it
