    Popbox v8 or something else?

hi guys, looking to get a NMP and its is a very crowded market..

    main features needed are -
    • streaming from a NAS
    • MKV support
    • BD/DVD ISO Support
    • preferably iplayer/4od/other streaming apps support

was looking at the popbox v8 (out in two weeks) / dune / acryan minihd2 (was going to buy but have seen too many annoyed customers on the forums due to bugs) and the WD variants...

good UI is a big plus for me!

Have an old PopBox. I ain't impressed with it - crashes, not good at find networked machine and the UI is awful.

BD ISO is rare on the boxes under £100. But for simplicity, I'd stick with the WDTV range. They're updated well and have most of the features you're looking for. Should be a community offering other firmwares as well.

The Asus o!Play series seems to cover most of what you need. Not sure if it does Netflix or iPlayer, nor what the interface is like...

Re: Popbox v8 or something else?

Build your own, buy one of these: Acer Revo

    Download and install this: http://openelec.tv/get-openelec

You will need the fusion build.

Alternatively, if you want a PVR as well as a NMT, add this to your basket: PlayTV

No doubt you will also want to use your TV remote, if so you will need one of these: HDMI-CEC

Edit: See it in action here
