    NAS running Linux clients windows?

    Can I use a Linux Server and running the clients with Windows 7 fairly effortlessly?

    Depends what OS you use - it may take a little bit of work. Certainly though, there's no problems accessing unix servers with Windows.

    For simple file sharing you should be able to configure Samba fairly quickly

    It depends how well you know Linux and how much of a Windows Server replacment you want it to be. Home drives, printer mappings etc.
    It can do it but you need to know how to set it up. I would recomend a front end like Webmin to get most of the configuration done.
