Depends what OS you use - it may take a little bit of work. Certainly though, there's no problems accessing unix servers with Windows.

...effortlessly is a very vague word!
It depends how well you know Linux and how much of a Windows Server replacment you want it to be. Home drives, printer mappings etc.
It can do it but you need to know how to set it up. I would recomend a front end like Webmin to get most of the configuration done.
