Virgin Media Upgrading 4mb customers to 10mb

Even faster - Your broadband service

Customers on size 'L' cable broadband package are being upgraded to 10mb free of charge starting this month (roll out details can also be found through the link above).

I'm pretty chuffed since I'm only paying £4.50 for my 4mb connection and it's the only package that is being upgraded.

Note that upload speeds are also being upped from 300k to 512k.

I know how much you guys love Virgin Media so I thought I'd just share this one with you!

Doesn't the slogan say it all about the company's direction?

It'd be nice if they'd upgrade us 20mb customers to 20mb.

You could always upgrade from the 20mb service to the 10mb one now that it's beginning to roll out

I'm quite pleased about this - my broadband is rock solid and fast even at peak times so I must be in a decent area without the over-subscribed UBRs that I keep hearing people complain about.

Don't worry it'll degrade soon enough. Newbury used to get fantastic service and if I'm honest it still is not to bad at off peak times. But after the 20meg upgrade it definitely got worse during peak hours; doesn't matter if I've downloaded nothing my speed is always cut back and of course there's no point in complaining.

    Oh god.

I'm in a very densely populated area of Bristol. I get ~15Mbps atm so hopefully they do some infrastructure work before upgrading people.

I'll drop mine down to 4mb then cos paying £40pcm for a supposedly 20mb is shocking as I'm now paying nigh on £80[cm to Virgin for Broadband/TV/Phone....

I hope these means loads of 20Mb users drop to 10mb, should give us 20mb users a bit more bandwith.

It might be Vm's plan, good plan at that. Apparently its being upgraded region by region from yesterday.

good point, thing is I've been with NTL/Virgin since there top service was 3Mb I think it was, might have been lower than that, I know its been about 7/8 years and I've always just had whatever upgrades there are, I hope that in changing the packages tho there not changing the caps/limits that they have...

this sucks as its not in plymouth yet >.<, my dad rang up and i just noticed it wasnt in our area. Oh well, they said we shall get it in 1-2months. Still its good my dad got us up from medium 2mb/s to 4mb/s and£10 off our bill (so £8 a month) by sayingwe will leave xD as that download cap went into effect on me fnnaly(a month at most it was) so basicly we will be paying £8 for 10mb, nice .

I would have a chat with CS/retentions as they are doing it for £20 atm
Broadband for £4.50 - Broadband Size: XL

    I reckon that I pay about £12.50 pm for a supposed 20Mb (it isn't here but I usually get~15MB & for £12.50 I won't complain too much) - £37.50 pm for XL BB, XL TV & 'phone.
