    Angry Router: Driving Me Mad

I am on the verge of blowing up my pc. I use a Netgear DM602 Router/modem to connect to my ADSL whihc is provided by nlidram. Every so often the cnnection just drops and I am unable to access the internet. The only way around this is to right click on the connection in the netowkr connections box and click on repair. Sometimes this has to be done a couple of times.

Once I have done this it appears fine. I have all the latest drivers fdor my netowkr card, router etc. I am not realley sure what is happenning wiht this. Any ideas?

    Specs:

    Q6600 G0, Thermalright Ultra 120, ABIT IP35 PRO, 4GB Corsair DDR2, Trusty old Tagan 480u, BFG 8800 GTS 512, Samsung F1 750 GB.

Set up the PC with a static IP.

If the IP of your router is 192.160.0.1 then set the PC to be 192.168.0.4 (or another number in the last section that isn't already used) subnet mask 255.255.255.0

The IP of your router might be different though.

Anyway, also set up the DNS servers in the network settings manually (get them off the nildram site if you can.)

This isn't an ideal solution but I've had to do it before.

Is your router on the latest firmware?
Also do you have a static or Dynamic IP from Nildram?

Can the router output things to a log file?
May be worth checking if its locking up when you get dished a new IP?

I have the Netgear RP614v2 broadband router. Every 6 weeks or so mine does the same thing and all I have to do is disconnect the modem and the router for a few mins then reconnect and it works fine.

Once every 4 - 6 weeks the service provider updates DNS and IP address settings on their side but for some reason my router doesn't update and needs a manual reboot for it to adjust to the new settings.

I have setup the ip address/dns/gateway on both the router and the pc and now it seems fine in fact a little qucker which is odd. It no longer drops my connection when I disconnect from a ET game.

    Thanks for everyones help
