    QoS settings for Sipgate VoIP

    Hi guys,

Could anyone advise me on my settings for enabling Quality of Service for my Sipgate connection?

My setup uses a Linksys PAP2T phone adapter for all VoIP communication. This PAP2T has its own IP address. Therefore, can I simply to enable QoS in the router (U.S. Robotics 9107) for all traffic from this IP address, as in the screenshot below? Secondly, is the setting of "Maximise reliability" the correct one for VoIP, or should I choose "minimise delay" or some other setting?

    Thanks for your help.

    Leggie

I have never found the need to enable QoS for Sipgate (using a Draytek router). I can't see your picture (blocked by the proxy server) but I would enable minimise delay - VoIP can tolerate dropped packets - delayed packets are more serious (echo effects) - although to some extent it depends on the codec (if data is spread across several packets, the effects of loss or delay is minimised)

Thanks, I've now chosen to minimise delay instead.
