| Modem Router Advise please Hi all My Netgear DG834G v5 has died on me, it's been dropping connection for weeks. So i'm in the market for a good router, I will spend around the £100 for a quality product. I am not a networking wiz so something that is fairly easy to set up like the Netgear was would be appreciated. I am on IdNet and have a static IP, I will be needing to do VPN for work and possibly VOIP in the near future. I would like to go wireless N but I still need legacy for wireless G devices. All advise is appreciated. Ed |

| Overclocking Since 1988 | Re: Modem Router Advise please Are you willing to stretch that to around £190 for a REALLY REALLY REALLY good product, and when you say VoIP do you mean Skype or VoIP built into the router? Because if it is the latter, this is what you want. | Re: Modem Router Advise please have a look at http://www.dabs.com/products/belkin-...uter-4QKS.html seems to be within your price range, and you get the benefit of gigabit ports etc, see spec: http://catalog.belkin.com/IWCatProdu...duct_Id=377018 |

| Re: Modem Router Advise please Depending on your VoIP preference, you could get the 2820 without built in VoIP, and use a dedicated VoIP phone on the LAN. However they tend to cost around £60 or so anyway (but don't have to be connected to the router VoIP port, so physical separation is easier). Note the common theme, though, Draytek!. If your budget is a bit tight, there is the (slightly) lower spec 2700 series. This is the comparison chart http://www.draytek.co.uk/products/comparison.html Is YOUR system up to Folding? | Re: Modem Router Advise please You won't like it but the best advice I can give is to buy the cheapest no name brand that does everything you need as in the past I have tried all the big names Netgear, Belkin etc and they were all rubbish with dropping connections etc but the cheap no name brands have been rock solid. Just a thought? |
