| Hello, Friend of mine wants to get a wireless home network setup ![]() I have never looked into wireless networking so would be greatfull of any advice. He wants the network to share his broadband connection, share files and share the printer. He has 2 desktops and 1 laptop. So i am guessing he is going to need 2x PCI wireless network cards and 1x wireless PC Card for the laptop. Then hes going to need a Router to share eventhing. What gear would u recommend ? Cheers |

| If on cable http://www.linksys.com/international...oid=6&ipid=452 If on DSL http://www.linksys.com/international...oid=6&ipid=371 That takes care of your router/firewall and wireless LAN in one box. Printer sharing, well you could always hang the printer off one of the desktops, or use a print server; they do cost, though. Dabs do a wired 10/100 USB one for £35 or a parallel one for £25 that might do if the printer can go within a few meters of the router. Otherwise they do a wireless one which'll do either parallel or USB for £69. All "DabsValue" products - go here http://www.dabs.com/uk/channels/hard....htm?catid=143 and then choose DabsValue as the manufacturer. 2x http://www.linksys.com/international...oid=6&ipid=232 for the desktops, and http://www.linksys.com/international...oid=6&ipid=362 for the laptop. Yes, it's mostly Linksys, but I've used their gear and trust it. |
