Question Software For Testing WiFi Signal Strength?

Are there any programs (perhaps free ones?) for testing a wifi signal? - For working out the best location to place a router... Or do professionals just walk around with a laptop, looking at the 5 bars of signal strength?

Inssider is a great tool, used it quite a bit at work to find areas of dodgy reception.

I have actually got this and was playing with it in a real-world situation a few days ago I just wondered if there was anything more detailed out there...
