Unhappy msn (lan related...i think) problems

Not sure if this is in the right place...but..anyway.....

Basically, i can no longer sign into msn messenger. It just decided to give up on me (also i should note that i get my internet through another computer through a lan) -

"We were unable to sign you into the .NET messenger service, possibly because of a problem with the service or with your internet connection. please make sure you are connected to the inter....blah blah....."

Have reinstalled, all that crap and still am getting nothing. (i can sign in on another computer, btw)

Went to the troubleshooting thing -
"Are you using MSN Messenger in a corporation or through a corporate network (LAN)?
If you are not, and you are not behind any type of firewall, but you use an Internet service provider, follow these steps:
In the main MSN Messenger window, click the Tools menu, and then click Options.
Click the Connection tab, and then clear the I use a proxy server check box.
If you are, follow these steps:

In the main MSN Messenger window, click the Tools menu, and then click Options.
    Click the Connection tab.
Note the information and ask your system administrator to verify that the information is correct. "

    So in the tools/options/connection -

The proxy server thing isn't checked. So i figured if i check it, it might work..?
Loads more options then come up and as i'm a n00b i don't know what to put. Help

    "i use a proxy server" - options:
    type: HTTP proxy/socks version 4/socks version 5
    server:
    port: (default was 1080)
    user id:
    password:
    Realm:

Sounds like a firewall/ICS problem. This may help:
