1.5Mb at best here and NO plans to upgrade our area at all - If you're not in the centre of town, you are very low on the list and if you're as far out of town as us, you're not worth it to begin with.
Same for services like gas, busses, trains and even the public sewer network!

Just an update on this.... still no FTTC in my area. It says end of October, it said end of September, end of August, end of July etc etc. We get to the end of the month and then its due the end of the next month and that has gone on for probably 6 months now.

Where I am in Darlington dates have slipped several times. From beginning of year to June, June to 1st October, now I'm told June 2015.

    Re: BT FTTC Dates Slipping?

There was a few months delay before FTTC was enabled where I am. The issue was with the contractors that BT used took along time to install the cable and cabinets around the place. Not only that when the Openreach engineer came out to put us onto it, he ended up spending longer than he should of as the contractors screwed up with the cabinet setup.

Yet another year of the exchange fully enabled, but with nothing coming a mere 2 miles out towards us...

In the same boat here. Town of maybe 3,000 people so it's frustrating to see that our street is constantly delayed/pushed back when most people have infinity.

    Re: BT FTTC Dates Slipping?

BT just emailed me to say its not due until June next year.... Why not just put that on the Where and When page instead of incrementing the date every month.

    Re: BT FTTC Dates Slipping?

Looks like it's been put back again. I can't say too much, but it could now actually be a limiting factor in my wife's career, 4Mbps Internet just isn't suitable anymore.

    Re: BT FTTC Dates Slipping?

Only solution would be to see if you can get Virgin Media Fibre.
BT have been slipping most of the FTTC dates out badly FTTP has now stopped being rolled out in favour of the FTTC - so hopefully things will slowly get back on track.

    Re: BT FTTC Dates Slipping?

I've mentioned my situation a couple of times on here, but here is the latest: -

    - New build house on a new build estate (at least 500 homes, probably closer to 1000).
    - Currently have 2.5Mbit ADSL.
    - Openreach engineer informed me that the whole estate has FTTP, but mine (and lots of others) aren't on the system.
    - BT can't help as it's not on the system.
    - Email Openreach and eventually they say they are no longer woing anything there and pass me to the government broadband scheme (Better Broadband for Oxfordshire). Slight lie as the estate is still being built, so there are still loads of engineers around. One of them told me last month they were still connecting people up to fibre, so it can't be a capacity problem.
    - Email them and got a reply last week that since my estate has FTTP, they aren't doing anything in the area.

So, BT, Openreach and the govnerment scheme can't help which left me nowhere to go. However, they did give me a forum post on BT community's website about the estate I am on and someone emailed the local MP who helped him esculate his case. I did the same and got a reply a day later from someone at BT, so hopefully might get an answer soon.

    Re: BT FTTC Dates Slipping?

I emailed my MP with no reply, useless.

We don't have Virgin in our area ADSL only and only Sky and BT I think.

    Re: BT FTTC Dates Slipping?

Well, I did get a reply from BT. They're upgrading the capacity by the end of April; we will see if that deadline is kept...

In the meantime I'll just keep checking here: -

    Re: BT FTTC Dates Slipping?

For my wife's job I have had to sign up to 4G with EE (the only people who have any 4G in my area) I get 11/5 with that.

    Re: BT FTTC Dates Slipping?

I live in a Fibre cold spot. There is fibre in every town in all directions from mine, many of them small little Welsh villages a fraction of the size of the town I'm in.

Dates keep getting put back (Same as with 21CN). Got an email from BT business a few days ago saying it was available in my area. It isn't. Latest estimates say end of March. I'd be surprised if they didn't mean 2017.

    Re: BT FTTC Dates Slipping?

When you do finally get FTTC, I hope you do better than I have. Because of the distance to the cabinet, I only get about 17M down (OK it is good enough for most of what I do but that's not the point). Some people get better than that on ADSL!
