    stopping rogue search engines?

    hi there

lately ive been having a little trouble with rogue web search providers annoyingly replacing my normal msn search engine (windows default web search provider) and basically im damm well sick of it becouse everytime i search for anything through it im presented with nothing and whats worse is if it displays anything from my search results 6 out of 10 results are porn or sex links!!!!

i donno how its gotten onto my pc becouse i never knowingly accept anything from the internet that i havent chosen myself, the only thing i can put it down to is these goddam "popups" and spam whitch sometimes (im certain) when you click them off your actually being tricked into thinking its gone when uve actually installed something??
but its not the first time this has happened as ive had numerous other types before aswell and everytime it happens i end up having to format and reinstall windows to make sure it isnt in my registry anymore,so could anybody please reccomend some kind of software that will stop these annoying search engines taking over (ive looked for ways to uninstall/cancel them but the search providers never provide info on how to disable them) is there a way i can combat this problem please or an alternative decent search engine that wont allow these rogue websearches to attach themselves to my comp?

please help me as im getting so frustrated with this now and its spoiling my internet experience everytime i try to search the net for anything and i believe these perverted idiots who are responsible for such crap shud be hung drawn and qurtered its absolutely pathetic.

    much appreciated.

    mic.

get over to www.download.com and get a copy of spybot - search & destroy 1.3 and adaware.

it should help track down a gremlin or two

then install firefox and wonder why you didn't years ago

Also get yourself a copy of HijackThis (if you can get onto google and search for it ). Also look in your system32 directory for any suspect .html or .bat files, their should be none unless your aware that you or somthing you've done has put them there. Just open them up with notepad if there is any and see if they're suspect.

To err is human. To really foul things up ... you need a computer.
