Re: Plusnet or BT - ADSL ?????

few things that's not been mentioned yet.

do you wifi when out and about?

with BT you can use the free hotspots, just login using your BT details.
plusnet used to use the same BT hotspots, but stopped early last year.

so if you want the free BT hotspot wifi usage, then youll have to go BT.

otherwise plusnets good, even get an option to own a domain based off your username for £1 a month. mines <my username>.plus.com and I have unlimited email addresses based off that, like stevie@<my username>.plus.com (BT may aswell, not checked)

plusnet do not throttle in anyway either. me, dad and sister have been doing youtube/steam/iplayer and reach 2TB a month on average, speeds been 1.6MB/s pretty much constant throughout from the 16meg line.

Thanks for all the advice peeps.
Still torn between the 2. Both have pros and cons I need to prioritise. Will report back.

Re: Plusnet or BT - ADSL ?????

I've just moved from a BT fibre/ phone deal to a Plusnet fibre/ phone deal. The only difference I've found is the price - I'm saving £12 a month by going with Plusnet.

Had mine installed today. Estimate was 55, I've done a couple of tests and got 51/37/38 so I'll wait until it settles but I'm happy so far. Getting 18 up.

Theres a bit of a difference between 37/38 and 51, let us know how the plusnet router is working out though, read a lot of pro`s and con`s on said router...

Re: Plusnet or BT - ADSL ?????

    BT actually own plusnet.
BT is split into 2 companies. BT wholesale and BT retail.

BT wholesale sell to plusnet, zen, eclipse, etc, and also to BT Retail.

OFCOM force BT Retail to charge higher for their service to prevent them from gaining a monopoly.
So BT buy plusnet and offer their low cost solution through them.

The new BT Hub is probably better than the TG582n. But its also way more expensive and the TG582n is still a really great device.

If the choice is between BT and Plusnet. I'd go for plusnet.
