    Netgear R7000 vs Linksys wrt1900ac vs ?

So Got my BT Fibre sorted and now looking at routers.

Have a bundget of around 200 quid though can go up a bit if something really amazing is around.

    Would like 4or5 GbE Ports.
Ability to backup to (a small NAS) would be useful - especially if its time-machine enabled
    Mac Filtering
    Supports ~25 Devices
    VPN Into Local Network
port Mapping (I assume this is standard on most routers now)

I've never done something like you need with a NAS directly connected to the router, GbE ports are pretty much standard 10/100/1000 so it's fine you normally get 4. Support 25 devices I suppose on wifi? all you've put in the list can be done by standard. I've tried with both linksys and netgear they are both reliable and easy to set up.

Isn't time machine a feature of your nas? Or did you mean you want to connect a drive to it and use it as a nas? In which case no it doesn't do time machine, just SMB, HTTP and asus' aicloud feature.

The thing that is swinging the netgear for me at the moment is you can plug in a drive and time machine it - which saves me a lot of aggro for her macbook .
